Economy na him I go blame. Truth is everyone is desperate

If you think it's just Nigeria omo you are sadly mistaken.

If you know wetin Betway dey take South Africans eye to see. Anyone who dey enter Eastern and Southern Africa will tell you. I can attest. Go Ghana same thing. Europe. Same thing

It's not just guys. Babes dey fire pass some men sef. Fine babes. You will be shocked.

Raumdeuter wey dey Yankee ask him Idan wey Fanduel and Underdog Fantasy dey run. All the Yankee guys and babes on my time line are cussing some NBA or NFL player every other night

All these things in my opinion skyrocketed with Covid. Something about that pandemic that turned the world upside down and everyone and everything is not back to normal yet.

Matters Arising at Ambrose Ali University Ekpoma:

The school earlier issued directives prohibiting excessive celebration of final exams involving car display, spraying of money, shouting and hooting within ghe campus. Apparently some students violated this directive and the school management in its "almighty wisdom" thinks the best punishment is for them to cancel all papers written on the final day of the exams .

My personal opinion on the matter : The only reason this nonsense injustice will stand is if student unionism has died in public universities in Nigeria . Under any guise , there’s no justification whatsoever for any student to be made to rewrite an exam he or she didn’t fail nor was caught engaging in exam malpractice .

If the student union of this school knows their onions, they should stage a massive protest that will shake the whole state , shut down every academic and non academic activities within the school premises indefinitely and force the school management to come down from the high horse they are seated on.

In fact , they should occupy the school indefinitely such that even if armed policemen and soldiers are deployed to the school premises they will be unable to curtail the students who will insist the school management goes on radio to announce reversal of this callous and useless memo. The school senate/management should not even be allowed to seat and deliberate on the matter within the school premises .

But schools should have laws, abi?

No spraying of money, no hooting unnecessarily, no blocking of access roads; All of which students violated.

This is not an issue of Almighty wisdom, but just a simple law that we as Nigerians will never keep.

If it was a University in the US or UK, no Nigerian born of a woman would think of violating it; no matter him level for cultism or Yahoo.

So if schools should have laws , the penalty should be to cancel all exams written by all students and ask them to reseat exams Abi ?

What happened to identifying the students involved in the “breaking of the school laws “ and punishing them for their” offences “?

If u want to go about the route of UK or US schools then u should be ready to do what they will do in the same circumstance . Those schools u want to reference will fish out the perpetrators/guilty students who carried out the car display , unnecessary hooting and blocking of access roads; they will punish them accordingly .

The point is: It makes absolutely no sense for u to tell me wey borrow money to buy candle to read for my last exams to go back and reseat am exam I gave my 100% best simply because my fellow students chose to break the law . Nobody punishes the entire populace for the sin of few in advanced society .

I still maintain that the student union has the mandate to fight this injustice on behalf of the innocent students .

So you think it is 1 or 10 people that broke that law, before AAU decided to cancel papers?

I won't be surprised if the SU follows your advise sha. Is it not Nigeria again? They should even burn down the school sef.

A simple law will be given, and we would not follow it. When there's a penalty, we immediately turn the tables.

And no UK or US school born of man, woman, or inanimate object will cancel the exams for the whole student body because of the activities of a minority section. They should identify and punish those that flouted the regulations.

The punishment for breaking school rules should be proportionate and directed at the right people. Many people hustled and sweated for that exam. Many of them from poor background and with no access to the cars whose horns were blasted or to the money that was sprayed. You now want to punish them because of the activities of miscreants many of whom do not need the degrees in the first place.

It is like you have been conditioned to accept the tyranny of lecturers and university administration which is standard in Nigeria.

I go university and I graduate ; I know the number of students always engaging in excessive celebration are few in comparison to the total number of students in the entire university system .

If u follow news of various university convocation , u will see news like :”16,000 graduates from Unilag at the 55th convocation “…. Now the question is do u see 16,000 final year students of Unilag doing a motorcade , hooting of horns and blocking access to university road in Yaba? The answer is a big NO! The people who carry out this excessive celebration may not even be up to 200 of the entire graduating class . Why make all of them rewrite their final exams?

If u want to talk about laws and penalties ; then u should be easy to talk about fairness and also proportionality of penalties in relation with the offences committed .

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick:
When I was in 400l the school management abruptly announced the date of our 400l 1st semester exams and date of closure of course registration on the school portal out of the blues .

A lot of students were in disarray and saw extra semester staring them in the face . They appealed for the school to have a rethink but the school management didn’t budge . To think indigent students comprised the vast majority of the student population didn’t move the school management one bit.

The portal was eventually closed and a lot of 400l students hadn’t registered their courses before the closure . The implication of this is that even if u pay ur school fees after the cut off date , u still wouldn’t be able to register ur courses and any exams u write ; the result will never get uploaded to ur academic profile .

On the day th me school scheduled for the first paper , student union guys and multitude of students don mount school compound as early as 5.30am. They pursued the school security guards off their duty post and stationed patiently waiting for the reinforcements of armed anti-riot policemen to show face . They sacked the VC and deputy VC’s cars , had to be dispersed by anti riot policemen and the school was closed indefinitely .

The school management caved in and allowed ample time for the affected students to register and write the exams as against their initial position. I never saw anything like that before 🥵

As it then I wasn’t in support of the students’ actions and even till now I don’t think their actions sit down well with me , but that was the first time I saw students acting in unison against what they believe to be against their common interest and won.

I believe the Ekpoma guys can take a leaf from the situation.

I did. The memo was referring to all students who wrote exams on that particular date . What is the probability that all the students of that faculty and department were involved in the motorcade and excessive celebration ?

Some of the students couldn’t even afford to eat a meal before the exams .

I’m taking this personal because if this had happened to me in my final paper I will be mad as 4ck 😡. On the day of my final exam I was dead broke and just wanted to write the paper , page the school premises the next day and go look for wetin Dey turn money for streets .

Anybody telling me to rewrite an exam because some yahoo boys brought their car to show off after exams is definitely going after my life at that point .

So, all the final year students including the ones that are doing lesson teacher to feed and pay school fees and the ones that are feeding by the grace of their classmates and friends. All of those ones too joined cultists, yahoo boys and campus big boys to be hooting horn and spraying money.

For this same Naija wey people on good salary are just scraping by?
