Senator Sunday Katung, representing Southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone, has called on the Federal Government to take immediate action to protect innocent citizens from relentless terrorist attacks in the region.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Wednesday, Katung condemned the wave of violence sweeping through communities in Kauru, Kachia, Zangon Kataf, Kaura, and Sanga Local Government Areas of Kaduna State. He described the ongoing bloodshed and kidnappings as “heinous criminality” that has inflicted immense suffering on residents.

His remarks come in the wake of fresh attacks in Kauru LGA, where armed assailants abducted 22 locals—mostly women and children—from villages including Kugauta, Kusheka, Kumana, and Kitanda.

The lawmaker stressed the urgent need for decisive government intervention, warning that such unchecked acts of terrorism threaten national stability.

Citing Section 14(2)(b) of the Nigerian Constitution, which prioritizes the security and welfare of citizens, Katung reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the safety of his constituents. He disclosed ongoing discussions with the Kaduna State Government and the Chief of Defence Staff to establish a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kauru and other high-risk areas to combat the rising threat.

While commending security forces for their efforts, he urged them to intensify operations in Southern Kaduna to curb the persistent violence. He also called on residents to support security agencies by providing critical intelligence to track down criminals and their collaborators.

In a message of solidarity, the senator extended his condolences to victims’ families, assuring them that Southern Kaduna will not be abandoned in its time of need.

"This too shall pass," Katung declared, emphasizing a collective resolve to restore lasting peace and security to the troubled region.

They should not wait for the government that do not give a damn about their lives and properties.
They should set up their Hunter's and Local vigilante. Armed themselves with their Hunter's gun and locally made guns.
