I'm not a lawyer but even if there was amendments, the current igp shouldn't have benefited from it because he was an igp before and after the amendments so he shouldn't have benefited from the amendments as his appointment wasn't based on the amendments.
Carry your lawyer gown go Court nah

Just as your Monika implies, you roam and loiter around here, looking for trouble.

You lack the mental capacity to engage in meaningful conversation.

They amend the act in 2024, same year and probably same month he was supposed to retire for his sake so that he can continue
If this Tax reform bill passed now, when is going to start implementation? I guess 2030

I think you have time that's why you are replying retarted people, gathered together to wail, weep and lament on every thread.
Why did you delete the part you wrote the act was amended in 2019?

You’re not even sure of yourself and yet you’re quick to bash people who are wiser than you .

When a law runs contrary to the constitution it becomes null and void, does the constitution have anything on retirement age of civil servants?

They continue to defend their actions even if it goes against national interest

It's all about their selfish interest

Tinubu and fagbemi doesn't care about the fact that the amended Police Act contradicts the Service Act’s provision that public servants must retire after 35 years of service or at 60 years of age, whichever comes first.

This is what you get under a government run by a notorious narcotics drug trafficker, certificate forger, and buccaneering power grabber engaged in criminal state capture.
Buhari did Tinubu can also do it. Gen Buratai served many even after age and retirement caught up with him

Unfortunately neither Tinubu nor Fagbemi, enacted that law it precedes their tenure!

Why did Sowore and Okpara fail to lobby their federal lawmakers to stop the Police Act amendment in 2024, instead of this crying over spilled milk huh

Some people here pretend not to be born when certain military generals at the point of retirement were appointed as service chiefs under President Buhari, and the same still served for over 5 years (exceeding one term of 4 years), before they were changed.
Where were these people when a certain retired ARMY colonel (born 15 January 1955) was brought back from retirement at age 60 years, and made comptroller general of Nigerian CUSTOMS for 8 years (from 2015 to 2023) ?
It is interesting how people choose to always forget stuff, especially when it's coming from the man they love to hate.

Which law are you referring to — the Police Act 2024 as amended, or another one?

when you knew his age will catch up with him during his tenure ,why give him the appointment? always justifying things to suit your own interests.

You guys are confusionist, Buhari signed the act 2020 and in 2024 was amended to reflect the 2020 proviso of Tenure of office for IGP-It can applied to any occupier of that office, please!
Re: IG's Stay In Office Lawful Despite Retirement Age - AGF by nedekid: 7:14am On Jan 31, 2025
So does that mean in 4 years time it could be amended again to enable him serve another 4 years until he is in his late 60s? What of the army, navy etc, can the same thing happen there? What will happen to the next batch of prospective IGs, the DIGs, AIGs, what will happen since oga did not leave at age 60? It seems a regrettable precedent may have been set.
Anyway, I assume it has been thought out properly.

Your argument is like saying Obasanjo couldn’t have benefitted from the third term bill if it was signed because he was already president when the amendment was passed
It was abandoned because Obasanjo was the intended beneficiary. It would have passed if they said from the next administration after Obasanjo can go for third term

You are actually the real confusionist.

Take your time to read and just read, read to understand and assimilate

It wasn't amended to reflect, rather the clause was inserted during the amendment.

That's how we play our own brand of politics.
Legalize the criminality so that when people talk, you point them to the law.
