Nigeria’s Flag Designer, Taiwo Akinkunmi’s Family Gets FG N30m Donation by Islie(op): 9:52pm On Jan 30, 2025

The Federal Government has donated N30 million to the family of renowned National Flag designer, late Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, two years after his demise.

The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Lanre Issa-Onilu, accompanied by the Oyo State Director of the agency, Olukemi Afolayan, made the official presentation of the cheque on behalf of the Federal Government at the Elebu in Ibadan residence of the late National hero on Thursday.

PUNCH Online reports that the late Akinkunmi died on August 29, 2023, at the age of 87.

On September 4, 2023, President Bola Tinubu sent a government delegation led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Malagi, on a condolence visit where it pledged to give the late Nigerian hero a national burial and financial support to the family.

The NOA DG said, “The donation of N30 million to the family of renowned National Flag designer was not to pay for the services of the late legend but to support his family in appreciation of his contributions to the country.”

One of the deceased sons, Akinwunmi Akinkunmi, expressed gratitude to Tinubu for the gesture.

Nigeria my country, they play politics with everything. This man had eye problem when he was alive n it made the news but the government didn't do anything about it.

The same with yemi tella then,they didn't release kobo till after his death was announced

CNG initiative for cheaper transportation

Care for people that have done Nigeria proud in the past like the Akinwumi

This is not good ,

.while the man was alive for years you the government did not recognise him well ,

that is what some leaders do that is not good at all ,

the governors ,presidents senetors etc will see and know of someone or people who is supporting them or doing good for the nation and they will not support them ,

instead they will want to recognise those who don't care about them and never supported them or care about their existence just to please them ,but still those people will not send them ,

we heard of how they neglected the man while he was alive ,

this is not good ,

Congratulations to them!

Remember what someone said sometime ago, if he was paid then for the flag, then he has been settled for the flag's design. He could have still used the popularity to get more contracts and connections, or even a better job then.
