U r the one who doesn't want to.learn. The ONLY thing that determines what is correct is USAGE. It is not logic, neither is it common sense, nor is there a poll or a board set up. Even the dictionary follows usage - things and spellings that were correct yesterday could be incorrect today. Same way, some things are correct in America but incorrect in UK. If you can say "come back here" , you can equally say "return back to base"!

Just to chip in some facts to your convo... You are absolutely correct. "Return to base" is standard English devoid of tautology.

I've heard some Nigerians incorrectly say: "Reverse the car back" OR "Reverse back" which are referred to as TAUTOLOGY and both are grammatically WRONG! That's pure TAUTOLOGY in the English language.

The standard usage is "Reverse the car" OR simply "Reverse."

Every language on Earth has rules and standards must be followed when having conversations or writing in specific languages.

Indeed, to add to that, the UK is a largely conservative society, and previous studies have shown that the closer you get to the colder North Pole (and South Pole), the more "depressing" it can get. Regardless, individually, we can always create our customized "positive realities" based off of our needs and wants and NOT have to depend largely on others who don't know us to do that for us.

Yes, Nigerians live a more balanced life. Few things keep you on your toes in Nigeria. If you are successful you hold a house, half of your problem is solved. Does owning a house in the west make solve anything? No. As a matter of fact, it’s an additional debt that will make you run faster.

Talk about education, people go to school here without owing, unlike the west where you initiated into debt at a very young age that you will have to pay for half of your life span. How many Nigerians in the west can outright send their kids on full payment to the university.

Ignore the American movies and sweet talks. Having worked in 3 continents across the globe. I know what I am talking about.
