That won't work as Ironsi died in 1966 and could not have had anything to do with Nigeria going from 4 Regions in 1967 to 36 states in 1996
Hmmm, I won'talk much

Aguiyi Ironsi that was killed 40days after making a decree unifying the civil service? Who enforced the decree? A dead man?

Stop swallowing the lies you were told. Think!
Benwallt:
I will show them Aguiyi ironsi grave that he laid the foundation of a failed Nigerian with his thoughtless decrees

Did he or did he not make the decree?

Ironsi made the decree that took regionalism away go good. Was the laws made by Yar adua removed by Jonathan that succeeded him?.

Who toldyou the lie you too swallowed.

You mean present day Nigeria or those years?

He did not make the decree that abolished the regions. When Gowon took over, it was 4 regions, when he left, it was 12 states.

Think!

1. I will advise you to read J. S. TARKAAND ETHNIC MINORITY AGITATIONS AND STRUGGLES IN NIGERIA.
That will answer your question about the acidic marginalization the middle belt suffered from the North.
They were reduced to a voiceless people.

2. They are kicking against the Tax reforms because they still want to continue to take undue advantage of their size that whatever they agree on must stand.
1. When making a claim, you be able to defend it by highlighting cogent points before referring your audience to read further, you haven't done anything to back your claim that the north was marginalizing middle belt yet making reference, that's a very poor to make an argument.
2. The north is kicking against because it's what they want for themselves, if you want otherwise, push for it, you can't accuse the north of being outspoken and insisting on their points while you lots are quiet and accept anything.

Ijaws in Ondo had the options to leave but chose to stay. They arent big enough to form a state, yet Yorubas never claimed then till today

Egun isnt under Yoruba, Like the Ijaws, they are a distinct group living in the region

Eifk, Ibibio and Annage are too big to be under an SE state. Even they are bigger than some SE state

Awori is 100% Yoruba. Its like telling an Akoko guy from Ondo that he isnt Yoruba. We will laugh you
Good answer.

Ironsi's decree gave birth to that twelve states as regional government was already vacated by earlier promulgation by ironsi. Gowon followed what was already on ground as prepared by ironsi
Re: Would You Be Able To Explain This Picture Of Nigeria To A Foreigner If Asked? by ValarDoharis: 4:43pm On Jan 31, 2025
What compelled Gowon to follow Ironsi? Are you saying Ironsi's wisdom is unmatched?

Again, when Gowon took over, it was 4 regions
when he left, it was 12 states. Hold Gowon responsible for dividing Nigeria

Very funny. We know the source of our problems as a nation.
Re: Would You Be Able To Explain This Picture Of Nigeria To A Foreigner If Asked? by ValarDoharis: 5:07pm On Jan 31, 2025
Its a simple logic. Gowon came and met 4 regions, he left with 12 states and you say he is not responsible.

I know you want to hang it on Ironsi because he is Igbo but the evidence does not support it

You can post what you like but Ironsi died middle of 1966. Nigeria still had 4 Regions in 1967. How did Nigeria go from 4 Regions to 36 states? Ironsi was long dead?

All the states are illegal because they were created by illegitimate governments.

Can you mention any state created by a democratically elected government?
All the 36 states were created by the military
Re: Would You Be Able To Explain This Picture Of Nigeria To A Foreigner If Asked? by ValarDoharis: 5:11pm On Jan 31, 2025
All military govts were illegitimate so the states are illegal. The constitution is also illegitimate!

No wonder we're were we are

Those military governments were illegitimate. You can't build something on illegality.

A referendum should be done for proper self determination. I support the right to self determination and thats why i support separation

Re: Would You Be Able To Explain This Picture Of Nigeria To A Foreigner If Asked? by ValarDoharis: 8:03pm On Jan 31, 2025
A proper legitimate democratic governments will do referendums, proper boundary adjustments so that same people are not separated into two or more states by artificial borders. There are Igbos in Delta, Rivers, Benue. There are Ijaws in Delta, Bayelsa,
Ondo, Rivers. etc

Again, unity cannot be forced

Doesn't change the fact that we officially have 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria.

You cannot use the word official for something thats unconstitutional.

If you have 6 regions, why no regional government?

I told you that Nigeria officially has 6 geopolitical zones, yet come up with "region" and "regional government", you made the geopolitical zones unconstitutional?
Are you sure you know anything at all?

The geopolitical zones are made up, not in the constitution.

This same igbos wanted a united Nigeria when the north wanted to leave, you're now shouting referendum. Tell your representatives in the HoR and Senate to pass a bill asking for referendum, shouting about it on nairaland won't give it to you.

Also igbos are a minority in those states you mentioned, just as there are minority ijaw in Ondo, but you'll never see the yourubas claiming them. Because you have minorities in Rivers doesn't make you own Rivers or Delta or Benue.

Do the right thing, tell your representatives to ask for a referendum.

My worry tho, is why you feel its proper for countries to get independent and become a sovreign Nation, yet want Efik,Annang,Ijaw,Ogoni and co to still be under the Eastern region in 2025

You guys have a very primitive mindset.
Says a deeply concerned self appointed ãffònjã minister of Igbo affairs.....self appointed Efik annang Ijaw spokesman grin
