I don't believe it's just two parties fighting for power. Who funds them, where do they buy weapons from?

Countries like Angola, S.A., Russia etc behind the Congolese army. M23 doesn't have much of interest in getting to Kinshasa, so long as they can hold ground in Goma and the east and control the vast natural resources in that region.
The Congolese government also has the same interest, but they also believe that if M23 becomes too comfortable in the east, M23 will eventually consider advancing on Kinshasa too. Unfortunately, this fight will likely go on for quite some time to come. Very unfortunate.

Killing oneself is never honorable. It is the coward's way. Taking as many as possible of your enemy with you or even dying in the attempt without killing anyone is more honorable.
