The Kano State government's decision to allocate N2.5 billion for mass weddings is indeed puzzling, especially considering the state's struggles with poverty and low human development. This initiative, part of the state's N91.32 billion governance and service delivery budget, aims to support underprivileged couples by covering wedding expenses, dowries, furniture, and other necessities. This allocation is a mispriority, given the state's pressing needs in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. Investing in human capital development, such as education and skills training, would have a more lasting impact on the state's growth and prosperity. The state's budget also includes other notable allocations, such as N1 billion for Ramadan feeding programs and N955 million for manpower statistics and surveys. While these initiatives may have some benefits, it's essential to question whether they address the state's most pressing challenges. Ultimately, the Kano State government's priorities reflect the caliber of leaders our political system produces. As citizens, it's crucial to hold our leaders accountable for their decisions and demand more effective allocation of resources to drive meaningful development and growth. |

This is one of many reasons why tax reforms are necessary. Government of wheelbarrows, shovels, goats, and mass weddings of men that want to take up additional wives.

Its not difficult to see the side of the country that is backwards in thinking and development. All because of their useless inclination to religious fanaticism and tomfoolery |

Share 20 million naira to each primary and secondary school in Kano to address their critical needs and in less than 4 years, it will beat Anambra in WAEC and NECO. That was how Obi changed the state of education in Anambra State. You dont invest in jamboree, called mass wedding, you invest in what will yield development in the future. Anyone who cannot pay for his wedding no matter how little is not responsible enough to get married. The end product of mass wedding in mass almajiri children. |

Ofcus, their vision is to dominate the whole country improvising more poverty everywhere. A man who can't gather money to marry, how can he take care of the family? I do hope very soon every region will send back all this street beggars to where they actually belong |

Misplaced priority. You wan spend 2.5 billion to guarantee steady knacking. But you can’t spend the same amount to help all the almajiri children on the streets or improve healthcare and education . May God help you people in the North. |
