Notorious Bandit Leader Kachallah Bugaje Repents, Renounces Crime, released 50 Kidnapped victims to families

A notorious bandit leader, formerly known as Kachallah Bugaje, has publicly renounced banditry and pledged to abandon criminal activities along with 50 of his fighters.

In a 5-minute, 42-second video, obtained by Zagazola Makama, Bugaje, who now wishes to be called Zakiru Bugaje, denounced kidnapping and theft, declaring his decision to turn a new leaf.

“We have abducted over 50 people, called their families, and demanded ransoms—some as high as 10 million naira, others 25 million naira. But we later released them without collecting a penny, out of the fear of God,” he said.

Bugaje repeatedly expressed remorse for his past actions, emphasizing that he would no longer engage in criminality.

He praised Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and urged others involved in banditry to abandon their ways.

Am not on anyone's side, Congo needs liberation, there have been silent killings going on for years. All because of the diamonds and other resources, Am not in full support if coups & Rebels taking over government because it will lead to further conflicts.
For the Rwanda forces, I must say they've been very professional about handling these whole situation. The whole situation in Congo is complex, it's like considering two sides of a coin.

Anyways my opinion or side dosent matter, likewise yours.

ECOWAS was never established as a military alliance of any sort, under some funding and pressure from western interests, she took on the role of peacekeeping and democracy enforcement. However, insurgency is a recent thing, and for now ECOWAS has not come up with any solution yet.

Lt. Col. T.E. Alari, a Fearless Leader and Defender of the Nation

In the face of unparalleled danger, there are individuals who embody the true essence of courage, leadership, and sacrifice. Lt. Col. T.E. Alari was one such man a gallant officer who stood as a bulwark against terror, giving his life so others might live in peace.

The Commanding Officer of the 149 Battalion, Lt. Col. Alari, was a nightmare to insurgents. His resolute determination and strategic brilliance in combat had dealt devastating blows to the ranks of ISWAP, earning him a reputation as a fearless leader who did not shy away from leading from the front. His name struck fear into the hearts of terrorists, and his presence on the battlefield inspired confidence among his troops.

On Jan. 24, 2025, while leading an operation in the Timbuktu Triangle, a bastion of terrorist activity in Damboa, Lt. Col. Alari once again demonstrated the true essence of leadership. Under his command, the 149 Battalion had successfully disrupted insurgent strongholds, neutralizing scores of terrorists and forcing them into retreat. But in a desperate last ditch effort, ISWAP insurgents deployed a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) against his troops.

The VBIED was intercepted and destroyed by the troops, but the shrapnel from the explosion tragically took the lives of those closest to the blast, including Lt. Col. Alari, who, as always, was at the front, leading his men. Even in the face of certain death, his bravery remained unwavering a true testament to his character.

Lt. Col. Alari was not just a soldier; he was a protector, a mentor, and a patriot. His relentless pursuit of justice and his commitment to the safety of his country will forever be remembered. He epitomized the qualities of a selfless leader always prioritizing the wellbeing of his troops and the mission above his own safety.

Beyond the battlefield, Lt. Col. Alari was a devoted son, husband, and father. His family, though bereaved, can take solace in the legacy he leaves behind a legacy of valor, service, and love for his nation.

As Nigeria mourns the loss of one of its finest, we must honor his memory by continuing the fight he so bravely led. Lt. Col. T.E. Alari’s sacrifice will not be in vain. His name will forever be etched in the annals of history as a hero who stood against terror and gave his all for his country.

Rest in peace, gallant soldier. Nigeria owes you a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.

Fearless to the End: The Heroic Last Stand of Lt. Col. Alari and His Troops in the Timbuktu Triangle

In the unforgiving terrain of the Timbuktu Triangle, where the desert meets destiny, a battle of immense ferocity unfolded.

It was here that Lt. Col. Thomas Ebisingha Alari and his troops of the 19 Battalion, 199 Battalion, and 149 Battalion made their heroic last stand against the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, pushing back wave after wave of insurgents before paying the ultimate price.

The exclusive footage obtained by Zagazola reveals the raw intensity of the confrontation. a demonstration to the courage of soldiers who stood their ground against overwhelming odds. Before the encounter that claimed their commander’s life, the troops had already eliminated over 70 terrorist combatants, including three notorious commanders: TALHA, a ruthless special forces leader; Mallam Umar, and Abu Yazeed, another Fiye (Commanding Officer).

It was a battle fought with unyielding resolve. As the terrorists launched a massive assault, deploying a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) to breach the military’s defenses, the troops fought back fiercely.

The explosion shook the battlefield, but the soldiers held their ground, raining fire on the enemy with precision and determination. The terrorists were hard saying “Amaliya and scampering for safety after a bomb was lunched in their location, which killed some of them.

Lt. Col. Alari was no ordinary commander. He was a warrior, a leader who fought side by side with his men, never retreating, never faltering. Even as the battle raged and the odds stacked against them, he remained resolute, rallying his troops with unwavering bravery.

Like a Spartan in his final stand, he refused to yield. He fought until his last breath, ensuring that his men had done what they could to repel the terrorists before he fell in the heat of combat. His death was not in vain. His sacrifice, and that of his fellow soldiers, ensured that the terrorists suffered devastating losses.

This is the unspoken reality of those who defend Nigeria. The footage tells a story beyond words the sheer grit, the sacrifice, and the undying patriotism of troops who face death daily so that others can live in peace.

Today, we honor Lt. Col. Alari and the fallen warriors who stood their ground in the Timbuktu Triangle. Their legacy is carved in the history of Nigeria’s fight against terrorism. a legacy of courage, honor, and sacrifice. They may be gone, but their heroism will forever inspire generations to come.

Rest in power, our fallen heroes. Your fight was not in vain.

Yes, very intense battle there and watched it over and over again but in it all I never saw the airforce and their new toys there, what went wrong with our military, why is there no synergy among them all to work together when the time comes,

Dont mind them.

When I talk now, the usual suspects will start mouthing off.

Same mistakes over and over again makes the military look incompetent.

How can a VBIED drive all the way straight into the middle of an FOB to explodehuh Where are the obstruction to prevent this? Aren't the FOBs mined to prevent approach?

Where is the aircover, fire support and QRF? U have multiple Tucanos, UAVs and helicopters which should have been scrambled as soon as news of the attack started.

Instead they leave an FOB to defend itself for 2 to 4 hours without coverhuh?

GROSS INVOMPETENCE.

One thing we should have learnt by now and until now there has not been changes and our red necks are not adapting rapidly.
They'll rather spent funds on Gucci head quarters etc. Our F.O.B are not well protected from threats like the deadly V.B.I.E.D. I mean what does it take to have well protected base with enough obstacles , trenches and Hesco Barrier etc.

One would asked, where is our airforce with all the findings they've enjoyed, this are times the ground soldiers needs them the most.

FACTS!!!
When I talk, those rotten government sycophants on this forum think everything is a game and want to shut me up.

Meanwhile men are dying. 22 men + 1 redneck in 1 day!!!

It is CRIMINAL and calls for a court martial of somebody.

Watching the Nigerian army throughout the 16 years of counterinsurgency, one of their weakest points is base defence.
A reasonable army would get some of the best brains to fly in and have table top exercises and seminars on practical base defence tactics.
They would discuss with surrounding west, sahel & central region militaries on the similarity of attacks and implement changes to trainings in depot Nigeria, NDA , TRADOC.and most command and control centres.

ARMY PROVIDE MORE UPDATE ON TERRORIST ATTACK ON TROOPS IN THE TIMBUKTU TRIANGLE

1. On 16 Jan 25, troops of Operation HADIN KAI commenced operation DESERT SANITY IV as part of a wider measure to completely defeat the terrorists in the North East Region. In the course of the operation, troops dislodged terrorists from their enclaves in Jemyeri, Abulam, Agum and Digamari. Troops further stormed ISWAP training camp at Garin Baban Alhassan, destroyed the camp and neutralized 18 including 3 notorious commanders identified as Talha, the ISWAP women leader, Mallam Umar the RPG trainer and Abu Yazeed the ISWAP Brigade Commander in the Timbuktu Triangle. On 22 Jan 25 at about 1440hrs, troops of 199 SF Bn, Combat Teams 6 and 8 married up at Gardiri for the final onslaught on the notorious terrorist enclave. As precursor operations, troops cleared terrorist camps at Burbur, Lamisuri, Kassachia and Buk destroying all life supporting structures within these strongholds. It is worthy to state that the terrorists were placed on the backfoot as they were on the run all through seeking to find new hideouts within the Timbuktu Triangle.
2. Due to the pressure on the terrorists and a sign of desperation and last resort, on 24 Jan 25 at about 1910hrs, the terrorists cowardly rammed into troops at their harbor position with a Vehicle Borne IED at Gardiri base killing a Commanding Officer, 2 officers and some of our very brave men while injuring 20 others. Conversely and conservatively too, the troops neutralised more than 60 of the terrorists during the one week long operation . Also, 14 AK 47 rifles, 6 RPG tubes, 18 motorcycles and 24 AK 47 magazines were recovered by our gallant warriors.
3. Based on this development, a comprehensive review of the operation is being carried out to enable a re-launch. Meanwhile, It is pertinent to set the records straight that there was no terrorist activity at Malam Fatori which led to casualty on own troops as widely circulated in some media outlets by mischief makers. The only recorded incident occurred at the Timbuktu Triangle in Damboa LGA of Borno State as narrated earlier.

How many of the AES Contries pay up their share for joint security in ECOWAS...even from the days of ECOMOG. The Lion share is usually borne by Nigeria. lot to unpack from here. RIP to the men who lost their lives in this encounter.

Personally I think there are avoidable mistakes here that would have prevented casualties.

First they had fire superiority. Much of the sound came from the army in the foreground and the echoes from the rapid fire.

However they didn’t use it effectively. They were firing almost in a 180 degree sector. Meaning that either they were not sure where the enemy was firing from or the enemy was attacking from multiple positions.

Ordinarily a reasonable enemy platoon may have retreated due to the overwhelming fire but terrorists are not resonable. They won’t retreat till they start taking casualties.

Thirdly they’re camping, which imo is just a bad idea in this case. This is not a base and also i see vehicles. The best thing is to for half the group to be moving while another group is returning fire. Nothing reveals your position better than sitting in one place and firing heavy smoke and fire spitting rounds in the evening sky, even blinding yourself in the process. If you don’t hit your enemy, you will get hit very soon.

No wonder while all the music was going on, the enemy had all the time to prepare a vehicle IED and send it right into their midst.

NB: This is just my opinion.

Some sources claimed it was an F.O.B, anyways it doesn't justify us loosing brave officers and solders.

Some weeks ago I saw videos of slain NA soldiers covered in blankets on Facebook. I couldn't post or ask questions about it because i was unable to verify if the video was recent or old. Nevertheless not all fatalities are always reported.

There is much to be done, especially with the army, and I keep asking myself where is the NAF in all these !

The facts I have been able to glean from X, from first hand info, is that it was something of a fighting patrol that these terrorists tried to break off its offensives with suicide VBIEDs. It is from this VBIED we lost our men.

This particular operation helps me make sense of all the NAF airstrikes in Damboa, Mandara Mts and this particular Timbuktu in early January. They were probably interdictions in prep for ground troops.

So far, there is nothing i've seen from all the info I have piece together that indicates the NAF was "missing" when needed.

It was'nt an overrun base or an "ambush" really. It was a counter attack. And except air cover can be guaranteed to follow troops around like the sun, those deaths were unfortunate.

Troops Neutralize Bandit, Recover Arms in Taraba

Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have neutralized a bandit and recovered a cache of arms following a raid on a criminal hideout in Angwan Bala, Kambari area of Karim Lamido Local Government Area, Taraba State.

The operation, conducted on Feb. 2, was based on credible intelligence on the movement of suspected bandits, according to a statement by the Brigade.

On arrival at the hideout, the troops encountered resistance as the bandits opened fire. However, the soldiers overpowered them, leading to the neutralization of one bandit while 23 others, including 19 males and four females, surrendered.

A search of the camp led to the recovery of four AK-47 rifles, five AK-47 magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, an English-made pistol, two locally fabricated guns, 28 cutlasses, 48 daggers and jack knives, and 16 motorcycles.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the bandits, originally from Plateau State, had paid a local chief in Amar village the sum of ₦1.5 million to establish their camp in the area.

And except air cover can be guaranteed to follow troops around like the sun, those deaths were unfortunate.
this is the most excellent response and analysis from the video so far
