First of all Christ is a title not name so there can't be any Jewish sect bearing Christians in the absence of someone who bears the title CHRIST.

So if any group claims CHRISTIANS today there must be someone who assumes the office of CHRIST and whose teaching the group claiming CHRISTIANS are following.
