BlueRayDick:Bro I no fit argue against wetin you hear, but I fit tell you wetin I know. The marriage between 9ice and Toni fell apart around 2009 or 2010, which was about the same time his beef with Ruggedman officially started. In 2010 or 2011 9ice released Bashorun Gaa. Then I think he did GRA/CNN 2014 or 2015. Abeg go listen to all 9ice previous albums he made before 2011 including Bashorun Gaa and the listen to the ones like GRA/CNN and co he released from 2014 upwards then let me know if na the same 9ice voice you Dey hear |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 8:39pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
diggz:I bought hard copies of Versus and Bashorun Gaa he released same date . I don’t consider all those GRA/CNN as anything quality at all. That’s why I’m saying the marriage crisis messed him up . Versus and Bashorun Gaa were still quality songs , but as the whole marriage issue and his misadventure into politics happened after those two albums be his body of work became shiit. |

BlueRayDick:Rugged beef didn’t do nothing to 9ice. I can even argue the same for his marriage too. I don’t want to go into certain details….but whenever you have time go listen to any 9ice song from 2014 till date. Abeg ignore the sound quality….please pay attention to his vocals only. Hopefully, you go notice wetin I dey try tell you. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A40(m): 9:08pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
BlueRayDick:How nau?? The Ruggedman wey him career. Didn't Mode 9 smoke him on Talking to you? 9ice main problem na lack of packaging. That him local pattern cannot work in Nigeria and more importantly international. Can you picture him on an international collab? Of which where is Android17 I wan hear him hot takes on him boy Drake's humiliation |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 9:09pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
Amigoss:I think it is just a music thing. Once you get to the top, no room for staying.. Na to begin dip remain. Or maybe, newer talents become better. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 9:14pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
A40:This is not true . You are making it sound like 9ice is some shitty ass Yoruba singer whose song/vibe can’t be enjoyed by non Yoruba speaker/Nigerian . That’s not the case . Songs like Gbamu Gbamu are not local as u are making it sound . Collabs like Street Credibility will rival any top collabo of any naija artist u may want to argue have more packaging than 9ice . The truth is 9ice just fell off and that’s that . It has nothing to do with not having packaging or his local pattern |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Nobody: 9:14pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
A40:If Asake can and got grammy nomination, why can't he? Na that local pattern and those deep yoruba adage gangan wey him reduce for his songs follow affect am, is what I think... |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A40(m): 9:15pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
BlueRayDick:9ice sound became outdated. Lack of packaging and evolution. Obviously Nigeria is also highly competitive. The amount of money required to blow and maintain for Naija is scary. If strong men no dey your back. Omo A very good example I will use for artist evolution is Adekunle Gold. Listen to him when he started vs now. He gats evolve with the times Listen to Orente/Pickup/No Forget vs High/Okay/Sinner 9ice never really made that kin evolution of his sound |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Nobody: 9:18pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
BlueRayDick:Apt Best collabo ever to me , over killing it by djinee and MI comes distant second |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A40(m): 9:19pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
BlueRayDick:Oga 9ice sound became outdated. Truth is bitter like Guinness. And no I'm not saying he is a shitty ass Yoruba singer. Though him music no really penetrate East for example. Look at Flavor. He came out and was popping around the time 9ice came out. Listen to Flavor now and tell me if there wasn't evolution to his sound Ol boy if you're ignoring the importance of packaging for Nigeria music settings I no get anything to tell you then. There's a reason African China and Blackface no relevant and it's not for lack of talent |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 9:30pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
A40:What packaging did he give his first 3 albums that made them blow ? U can argue that 9ice fell off , that 9ice’s work wasn’t as quality as they used to be or he lost his mojo; but talking about packaging that one no enter at all. I already mentioned it that artists like Olamide kept on pushing out works after works and they were in our faces . Even when some section of fans weren’t 4cking with him and some section of music listeners claimed he shouts when singing ; he kept in doing his thing and never rested . People like 9ice went out of circulation and even their most loyal fans forgot about them. All those talk about packaging na just cap jare. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 9:31pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
Amigoss:I listened to overkilling on slow beat recently , Omo Djinee really cooked with the lyrics of that song . |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 9:37pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
A40:This music thing na sense sha. Flavour has one particular style and message he sticks too lately, and that's what is buying him relevance.. If he was still singing all those funny blues with that Liberian kid, him and 9ice for don dey the same WhatsApp group 9ice just fell off...That's just it. When the time reach, e reach be that. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A40(m): 9:45pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
Amigoss:You know who dey Asake back? You think YBNL packaging no help am? Shebi he's on his own now let's see how far he go blow. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A40(m): 9:49pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
izzou:Still comes down to evolution. When you no fit evolve your sound poor reception will definitely discourage you from putting out more especially when you factor Nigerian market Flavor of early 10s and now there is still difference in the sound and also subject matter of what he's singing about. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A40(m): 9:52pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
diggz:Yup. Lifestyle. They use and take all sorts. Look at someone like Solidstar should be much bigger as well but once small money enter they start misbehaving. Na my town man so him own pain me extra |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A40(m): 9:56pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
Bombblacks:Ayra too dey do some pangolo pattern. You can't fully enter foreign market with pangolo style. That Tems collabo with Wizkid really opened doors for her and she maximized it Ayra has dope vocals but Tems is just unique there's no one you can say sounds like her. To break into that market from Naija you just have to make some tweaks |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by semid4lyfe(m): 9:59pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
Amigoss:Where you put P-Square temptation ft Alaye? That song was a jam, the video was clean and dope as f¢#k for that era. ......Unless you wan talk say Alaye no be Nigerian. The beat of that song especially those guitar chords was heavenly and orgasmic. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A40(m): 9:59pm On Feb 03, 2025 |
diggz:Aviara. Him na Isoko South. Me I dey lump all together jare plus north plus south Na ice. Those boys too dey use. I no know why. Once them touch any small money like this Be like you familiar to that ends ![]() Ozoro na back of my village. You fit jog from there enter Ozoro. Na straight road ![]() |

BlueRayDick:Are you comparing Nigeria music game of 2006-2009 to now? Be fr You think the cost of entry is the same? Go and watch Keke interview on Nedu's podcast. Even Tems you think packaging no involve. Didn't she come out same time with Good Girl LA and Co? Guy packaging matters whether you like it or not BlueRayDick:Where is them Reekado Banks? Lil Kesh and Co today. Even international acts need packaging, tens of thousands of people dey release song everyday. If you think machine no dey wey dey push these select few artistes and keeping them relevant omo you're being naive ohh BlueRayDick:To blow up and have sustained success in today's music game for Nigeria and beyond you have to have packaging. Like I would say. Go and listen to Keke and D1 podcast. And that was back then. Listen to how much they spend to churn out an artiste. Rema, Ayra there's a machine pushing them. They're good but not just successful on their own merit alone |
