Again, I can see the method to the madness....aid money is basically a waste of time, and may even hinder development, rather than help it.

But aid is also a reason why the USA Is percieved as a global power. USAID has been in the forefront of making the US look good to the rest of the world. Shutting it down would leave the field open for other countries like China and company.

It will be difficult for any country to dole out the amount of dollars US has bn doling out in the form of foreign aid. The US spend $50 billion to $70 billion annually on foreign aid.

Aside from the US government, we have individual Philanthropic Billionaires who give foreign aid to poor countries from the same US like Bill Gates and Melinda, Warren Buffet, Michael Bloomberg, Soros, Mark Zuckerberg etc. How many Chinese Billionaires can afford to do such?

The US is about to leave a big shoe that will be difficult to be filled. But I knw the next Potus will undo most of Trump's policies especially, as regards to foreign affairs. Trump might even end up changing his mind on some of his policies.
