Dogalmighty17:Free market ko, free commodity ni There's no free market anywhere Learn to put your interests first Why is Trump imposing tariffs to protect US while dishing out money to oil firms to drill more oil |
| Re: Nigeria Blocks Export Permits Of Oil Producers Not Meeting Local Refinery Quotas by GeneralDae: 8:35am On Feb 04, 2025 |
Dogalmighty17:True, because our Bonny light crude called sweet crude is special and the most expensive in the world. We get more value from it when it is exported because local refiners would not want to pay the real price for it because it’s local to us. |

Same must be for agricultural stuffs, electricity, gas and employment too. Serve and save the home first. Even if nothing is good about America Trump but putting one's country first is commendable. |

The problem is, the refinery owners don't want to pay international prices for crude oil. The crude oil people meanwhile are competing internationally. If they sell below international prices, they lose money. But if the refineries buy at international prices, petrol refined from domestic source would cost N1300 naira. Government does not want to return subsidy because no money for that, and they also want to win elections, so what they are doing is forcing the crude oil suppliers here to sell at lower prices. Price control by stealth And people think APC is a good party. Price controls are always the begining of economic ruin, eventually. As usual, APC and tinubu don't know economics. |

Ojuntana:Nigerias quest for Fx is too high, but that does not mean , local market should be ignored . Yes they are business entities and profit is Thier driving force. Am also against government involvement in business, but if we can have policies that says in so so and so essential category, a percentage of x must be fed into y except z is saturated, otherwise you pay k. Then it will go into either creating more of that commodity or generating more revenue for the government. Either way the country wins. |
| Re: Nigeria Blocks Export Permits Of Oil Producers Not Meeting Local Refinery Quotas by Proudlyngwa(m): 8:48am On Feb 04, 2025 |
nairalanda1:Their can always be a caveat to everything. Crude is internationally priced does not mean it should be sold at that price. This is more of a kickback situation than a price situation. |
| Re: Nigeria Blocks Export Permits Of Oil Producers Not Meeting Local Refinery Quotas by nairalanda1(m): 8:50am On Feb 04, 2025 |
Proudlyngwa:Well, even then, person that is drilling for oil has to make a profit. Everything they use to drill for the oil is sourced from oversease. SO, expensive. If they are losing money from supplying the home market, it may impact their ability to drill for oil. |
| Re: Nigeria Blocks Export Permits Of Oil Producers Not Meeting Local Refinery Quotas by Proudlyngwa(m): 9:01am On Feb 04, 2025 |
nairalanda1:You still don't get me. They should be a quota for domestic consumption, this quota is tax exempt. Now should there be a saturation in the local market, you apply for it to be sold in the international market, Don't forget selling outside you pay tax ,duties, licence fees and much more, . So when all this is calculated, they won't run at a loss, |

capatainrambo:Stop displaying your crass ignorance with demented confidence,it depicts you as a clown......Nigeria is under statutory obligation to export electricity to the neighbouring countries so the major tributaries of the Niger and the Benue don't get depleted with too many power generation dams......if Niger,Burkina or Ghana and Cameroon decide to have dams each, you would have nothing left to provide electricity for your people |

This law I believe was in effect when refineries were running. After sometime, we did not refine in large quantities except for modular refineries producing diesel and kerosene. Now that Dangote refinery is onboard and he has massive capacity, it is only right that the law be revisited for compliance. |

Before one hails this, one must understand if this was negotiated as part of the fiscal terms. Will it come from NNPC's part or the partner/contractor's part? What has NNPC been doing with the previous volumes? |

Kemetian:Why are we so hypocritical with the truth? Dangote is underpricing the crude and overpricing the refined products and the FG is wilding the big stick to ensure Dangote makes more profit but same cannot be done to ensure Nigerians get fair pricing. If these foreign refiners buy at a higher price, transport it to their countries, refine it and transport it back to Nigeria and it is still cheaper than what Dangote is selling, what does that tell us? Inflation in Nigeria started and is still being sustained by the Dangote group. The rich should allow the poor breadth. |
