If that will bring peace to most part of Africa where the NGO has been used as a front to destabilize , then so be it . Let the people in the NGO sector lose their jobs so real peace can happen o.

What one has been reading about the NGO sector and insecurity has not been pleasing to the eye at all
Peace?

Forget the jobs lost, do you know how many millions are benefitting from the NGO sector?

From health, to food, to education?

As common as Vitamin A, Nigerian government cannot give its citizens for free.

NGOs will spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to make sure babies in the deepest part of our states have that pill in their mouth.

Maybe SA does not receive aids like Nigeria, but Nigeria is a very big beneficiary of these aids.

Any Nigerian cheering Trump on this has no idea of the great losses we are about to experience

I am trying to recall if Sahara reporters gets their funding from NGOs as well.

Well, I don’t know much about the NGO side of things over here but we have been hearing how some of these NGOs are front for clandestine operations in the troubled parts of Nigeria .

Any way u look at it, something has to give .

When one door closes, a better one will open. However, if, at this stage, we still rely on the United States to provide for us what we are capable of obtaining or producing ourselves, then we are not truly independent. This dependence is a form of modern colonization, restricting our growth, self-reliance, and progress, mentally, physically, and scientifically.

A nation that becomes accustomed to receiving aid or free resources loses the drive to innovate and develop its own capabilities. The more we depend on external support, the less we invest in our own potential. True independence is not just political, it is economic, technological, and intellectual. When we rely on handouts, we condition our minds to expect rather than create, to receive rather than produce.
The question is, Who does the US depend on?
They are self-sufficient, that's why they don't give a damn about anybody.
History has shown that great nations rise through self-sufficiency, resilience, and determination. No country has ever achieved lasting greatness by depending on another. To break free from the chains of dependency, we must take control of our own resources, invest in our own industries, and cultivate a mindset of innovation. Only then can we achieve true sovereignty and ensure a future where we are not just surviving but thriving on our own terms.
I support him wholeheartedly.

It is just like saying we should scrap the Police or Army because we heard they are involved in terrorism and corruption.

You're not wrong, but imagine a Nigeria with no Police... I'm sure we would beg the corrupt version to come back.

We about to go 15 steps backward if those aids removed. Na the truth be that.

I am not against anything you wrote there oh. Walahi, I support you.

But you and I can have this understanding because we are educated, exposed, have a source of income and we are informed

Sadly, a large (I mean...Very large) of our population is not

We can support Trump because we can afford food, vaccines, and drugs. Well, millions of Nigerians are on the path to death, if these aids stop.

If after weighing reality, you are ready to support millions dying, so we can truly be an independent nation, well....I respect your opinion

The problem with ur police/army analogy is that we do not have control over aids received or witheld by the US, unlike we having a hold on scrapping or not scrapping the police/army.

The fact that we are relying on another country to provide basic things such as health care, education and food shows we are already 1,000,000 years behind. Whether we like it or not, we will get weaned of this undeserved "free meals" one day because we just cannot be babies forever.

If any African country goes to shiit because the US withdraws its aid to third world countries, it just shoes we are not ready.

The problem is a lot of people don't know how bad our leaders have done us dirty. I was reading a finance report recently and I saw where the author mentioned that in 2020 Nigerian Naira exchanged for N600/1$ and in 2024 when the report was prepared the Naira now exchanges for N1,600/1$.

Conversely the Indian Rupee exchanged for INR84/1$ in 2022 and in 2024 when the report was prepared the Indian Rupee exchnages for INR77/1$ meaning that the Rupee has gained against the dollar.

The Indians must be really doing something right because if two business men get funds to invest; one in the Indian economy and the other in the Nigerian economy. It is obvious the Indian investor is already ahead because he doesn't have to worry much about foreign exchange risk unlike the Nigerian investor who is already on the backfoot due to the foreign exchange risk that may make his business management decisions look poor no matter how much he tries.

The reality is u cannot blame a foreign government for ur own country 4cking u over . We have billions of naira siphoned from our budget which should’ve catered for those needs without requiring any foreign government’s aid.

Just look at the image below , if we are not ready to fight against such issues , then we are not ready . Feeling sad about Trump turning off the tap on some of the funds that are still being diverted will not change anything .

Even the so called aids , some of those items still get diverted . That’s how u will see them selling mosquito nets with inscription “ not for sale” in the market .

actually history has not shown that ion any ay

china rose not because of any of their culture bit because US companies decided to make china a manufacturing hub.

take it or leave it, self sufficiency is a myth as countries are all interdependent on themselves, which is actually how the system was designed post WW2

post covid a lot of companies are trying to shift to india because china showed colour

you dont need to be told why nigeria is lagging . the answer is right in front of you. uncontrolled greed. it is not enough to steal 10% - i will steal 70%. how many times did they do TAM for our refineries?

when we were earning money, it was stolen rather than invested. now we are broke and the infrastructure and assets that should be carrying us through this period are non existent

if you actually want to believe USAID is a con I really cant say anything

it is the same thing china and russia and any aspiring world leader does - build relationships with soft loans and financial assistance.

this is bringing a fresh grad into your office to perform audit. one who has already been programmed by someone with an agenda. any expense will be deemed as scam or unnecessary

it is nothing i have not seen before. you get a new boss who has no fking idea what the function of a department is and he scraps it. we used to have a legal/real estate dept. this was scrapped. and over the next three to four years we were ripped off by numerous lessors. in one case we paid the lease on a site that had already been won in court and now had new owners. in another case we leased a site that was already encumbered by bank loans.

but to one jjc out of school - this department is a waste - it ads no value to the company.

Edit

today, no matter what russia does, South Africa will always align with them because russia supported the fight against apartheid

USAID is an investment in the future.

it is something we also all see in our lives and workplaces. it is not the bully who really gets things done in the long run, it is the person who builds relationships. it is why some people lose everything once they are down or out of favor, became people were not responding to them, but to the power of their position

There is actually nothing wrong with a fresh school grad auditing ur processes and procedures, provided such young grad auditor is not reinventing the rules. So far he is coming to apply the existing rules to review your processes, it shouldn't be an issue.

A clear mind fears no accusations. It is the job of the department to justify its spendings and prove they are not deviating from what is written in the rule books.

Let me just tell u something most of us don't want to say but we know it deep down our hearts: NIGERIANS DON'T LIKE NIGERIA AS A COUNTRY. THERE IS NO SENSE OF PATROTISM IN THIS COUNTRY BECAUSE THE IDEA OF ONE NIGERIA IS A MIRAGE.

Until our differences as a country of diverse people is addressed, u will continue to see Nigerians working at cross purposes.

Look at the tax reform bills that has faced different criticism/applause from different quarters, most people giving their opinion are not even doing it from a place of what the country may become. Just look at one of the northern governors( I think it is Kebbi) allocating billions to renovate several mosques (religious centers) at a time people are talking about the country not making enough to sustain itself.

this is not PWC auditing a company with a proper team and chain of command. this is a bunch of untrained kids being given control over a system they do not understand and with no supervision. it is not a bug, it is a feature

it is like some efcc jjcs being unleashed to audit your company without any supervision but a mandate from their oga at the top

in 2019 a lot us were exited. we had a terminal and the lead safety guy and my boss were exited. my former boss had been having different issues with the new CEO who saw process as a waste of time. basically, the people who would stand in his way in the name of process were exited.

less than three months later, terminal had a fire. a fire on a scale we had never seen before. i can only imagine how many safety breaches there were before the incident . this is partly because the hands who would stand their ground had been pushed out - and because the place was now being run by inexperienced guys who could not say no to oga. it was also thoroughly embarrassing.

an event you expect to occur in mushroom facilities run by independents

After food and health, what we should be looking at is education.

Elon Musk's goal in my opinion is to dismantle regulatory frameworks so that he and his fellow oligarchs can do anything they want

just think of how businesses are run in Nigeria on a larger scale.

we have regulatory failures. now what will happen if there is no regulation at all?

smart enough to skirt the rules, but not wise enough to know why they are there

my former ceo used to really push us on projects. once we had a death on a project. we reported to DPR, paid fines and the project was on hold for months.

on one delayed project he had threatened to sack my boss if we did not deliver. so we were o site welding a canopy while calibrating a tank with product. it was crazy, but we got it done.

when the ceo was pushed out and went to a new place, he pushed people even harder and there were three deaths on site DIRECTLY related to his actions. but this time they were covered up. but the word still got out. today no one will employ him. people are hop step jumping in the industry but the guy has had to move to a completely different industry

musk wants to eliminate process and safety and eliminate the consequences for bypassing process and safety. if there is no DPR who gets sanctioned if there is a death on site?

Well, I think it is mostly about Nigeria.

The bolded is mostly done by Nigerian businesses. I have had privilege to see how quite a number of foreigners run business and how Nigerians do; I think that the bolded is the forte of Nigerians. They always almost end up killing the golden goose laying the golden egg. The big man CEO would rather collect silly traditional titles, buy rolls royce and spray the reigning musician money instead of ploughing back profit into his business. I have seen this happen more often than not with Nigerian businesses.

when the guy went to a new place, he pushed people even harder and there were three deaths DIRECTLY related to his actions. but this time they were covered up. but the word still got out. today no one will employ him. people are hop step jumping in the industry but the guy has had to move to a completely different industry

musk wants to eliminate process and safety and eliminate the consequences for bypassing process and safety. if there is no DPR who gets sanctioned if there is a death on site?
I can't speak for Trump sha because I honestly don't know how his mind works nor do I have a deep insight into what he is doing in far away America. But one thing I've noticed is that some of his actions are getting nod/support of the people going by the engagement from his tweets online . Whether that means something , I will never know.

I am not an expert on American politics , so I will just be on the sideline reading opinion of people who know more about that.

It's either our leaders do something or we face the adverse effect na.
I want to assume the "We" in your statement is I and you

Because if you think any leader is losing sleep about what will happen, na joke be that.

That is why I am weeping in my heart that these aids are about to stop. When the outbreaks, crimes, kidnappings start, na still the common man be the only beneficiary
