If that is truly the reason he joined, He had better leave APC now because if Tinubu could not get the North to approve the VAT formula, he will not be able to get them to approve new states. Mind you creating of states is harder than amending the tax bill.

Personally I think he is just saying that to get his followers to support him in APC.

Nobody is creating any new state in Nigeria. Why? Because Ijebu will want their own, southern Kaduna will want their own, Northern Kaduna will oppose breaking up and creation of souther Kaduna and for that reason none will be created. The north will not vote in favour of any new state in the south without at least 1 in the North to balance. Ijebus will not vote in favour of any new state if they don’t get their own. To create 2 states in the south, the North will demand 2. In the end everybody will vote against it.
Too much sense in one comment.

Federal government will rather adopt regionalism than creating a state.

Ned knows. It is his supporters who think k doesn’t know. He is just stringing his supporters along to gain support. Ned is not stupid.

He knows his supporters want a state, he knows it is impossible but if he positions himself as a champion of their cause even if he knows it dead on arrival, he can count on their continued support in the polls.

It is no different from Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu deep down knows Biafra is impossible but he makes a name for himself, cements his status amongst his people and made a good living out of it. In this life if you choose not to use your brain and think for yourself, someone else will do your thinking for you whether politician, freedom fighter of pastor!

You joined APC to be assured that you will remain in the Senate. Any other reason you give is for yourself.

Anioma state? Comprising of?.. And of what benefit to the people? Does Anioma have oil? Currently, they are benefiting from being in an oil-producing state even though you may claim they are not seeing the benefits... But when you create Anioma State... You will just be another useless, FAAC dependent entity

Who in the southeast will want the zone to be cheated through making Anioma the sixth state for the southeast? Only mugus of "give us Biafla or death ". These mugus think that making Anioma a part of the southeast will further their fighting power for Biafra.
And Senator Ned Nwoko thinks he is exploiting the ignorance of these mugus.

The south east is just too small for another state go look at the map only niger state is bigger than the entire south east.

Ned Woko and all those distracting their supporters with wild goose chases should focus on good governance within the current structure.

I repeat…No new state will be created. You can call me a bastard is ANY new state is created. Anyone with common sense and a knowledge of the constitution as well as the politics of state creation, knows that it is easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than to create a state in Nigeria.

It is only the military that can create states in Nigeria. The only time a state (region) was created in a civilian dispensation was when the Midwest region was carved out of the Western region. It was easier then because there were only 2 out of 3 votes needed so the eastern region and the north voted against the western region. The politics also favored the Midwest region as it was in the interest of both Balewa and Zik to weaken Awo and the western region.

This is why I say creation of states is about the constitutional requirements and the politics. Now you need 25 out of 36 state parliaments to vote in your favour as opposed to 2 out of 3 during the creation of mid western state and you have to factor in the political implications. Already 13 core Northern states are against you, so from the start your votes are already in deficit. Of the 23 remaining (south plus middle belt), there are at least 5 or 6 that will not vote in your favour because either 1) they don’t want their own states broken up or to see their FAAc allocation reduced and will not support any new state or 2) they want their own state too and will not vote for another new state unless they get their own. . It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know…It’s never going to happen.
A northern Senate Chairman of Committee for Constitution ammendment actually led the process of creating a sixth state in the southeast in 2006. His committee got the consensus of the 36 states.
A sixth state in the southeast between Imo West and parts of Anambra south senatorial districts was about to be actualized in 2006, if not that a Senate President from the southeast was incapacitated that he didn't know that the baby has to be removed from the bath tub before throwing away the dirty water and the bath tub.
No reasonable Nigerian can refuse the fact that Igbos from the southeast are hugely underrepresented in the NASS and other federal government gatherings due to shortchanging of the southeast when Sani Abacha created the last states and created 7 states in the Northwest area, but left only 5 states in the southeast area.
Any Nigerian refusing a sixth state for the southeast is like loving a Nigeria being strangulated by grudge and secessionist moves from the country's 2nd largest ethnic group. FYI, no Igbo asked for restoration of Biafra after the civil war until the last states were created by Abacha. The constitutional obstacles to creating new states were put in place by the drafters of the constitution as they had to obey the military dictators literally riding in armoured vehicles as they supervised the drafting of the constitution. The constitution has to be remade by men to remove the obstacles purposely built into the constitution.

With due respect, whatever issues the ibos are facing in Nigeria today are the result of the past actions of the ibos.

1) Both the North and the west insisted on a referendum and secession clause, it was the ibos that not only rejected it but inserted a clause that made it a treasonable offense
2). It was the ibos that created and handed the present unitary system and power over our destinies to the North

We had a system where each region was independent and not under the control of the center, it was the ibos that messed it up. Whatever you see, you see. Nobody has any sympathy for you because whatever you are going through you created with your own hands, on the other hand you truncated our development in the process for nothing we did and we are supposed to sympathize with you?

As far as I am concerned the people least qualified to complain about the political structure of the country are the ibos

Oga calm down

Land mass matters too

Can they make Onitsha a state just because it has the resources?

South East don't need any other division instead they supposed carve out some Igbo territory outside SE to add as the 6th state.

Politicians are all thesame. The main reason why he decamped to APC is because he knows the former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa wants to contest as a Senator in 2027 on the platform of PDP. That's why he is attacking the current Delta State Governor installed by Okowa

He is just using the Anioma State campaign to deceive the gullible.
The day Governor Otti will decamp to APC, he will still give reasons

Herdsmen are currently killing his people including raping of women in Ogwashi-Ukwu & environs but Ned Nwoko will never mention it so as not to offend his masters.

He forcefully collected people's land for his personal Private university in his community without compensation and use police to arrest anyone that complain. Some of the community youths are currently in jail while others ran way for their dear life.
Nobody from his state has ever mentioned this. Are they afraid to speak out injustice. He will be used and dump by APC, then he will realize what he signed for.. PDP is Delta and Delta is PDP....

Maybe this is the real reason he keeps attacking sheriff. Sheriff banned sales of land in his community because of incessant land grabbing going on there. Didn't know he is also a land grabber

He's saying that he knows how elections were rigged for the PDP in the past and that he will do the same for APC going forward.

Nigerians are by nature crooks and unethical. No morals and ethics, it's always about them instead of their greater society.
This is the main reason why Nigeria and Africa as a whole are in a mess when compared to the rest of the world.

There are comparable because the end game is dead on arrival in both cases.

Biafra is also possible, everything is possible but there is a difference between possible and probable…….neither are probable!

It is also constitutionally possible for me to create a state out of my street or you to become president because the constitution allows it but it’s never going to happen.
