Look at it, verse 8:

8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was {the One who died), and which is to come (the One Coming again), the Almighty.

Now tell me, how:

1! God is - Yeah, God the Father is, and so is Jesus.
2. God was - God the Father NEVER WAS. He always IS. But Jesus WAS, when He died.
3. Is to Come - God the Father is NEVER TO COME. JESUS is the One who.us coming.

Jesus fulfilled all description in this verse, God fulfilled only one. Hence, the verse refers to Jesus speaking. He was first introduced in verse 1 and 2 as the One who signified these things to John. He now introduced Himself in verse 8.

Now, if you think God the Father wa the One speaking to John, when it was said expressly that Jesus was the One who signified these things to His servant John to be delivered to the Churches, then, I'm afraid.


Jesus was clearly the One speaking here too. The Word "It is Finished* is a literal reminder of Jesus' same Word on the cross. Then, "To all who are thirsty, I will give of the springs of the water of Life" is a word of promised made by Jesus to the Samaritan woman in John 4, and at the feast in John 7:37-38. These are the exact same words of Jesus. You don't even need to confuse this verse at all.

The difference here is that the Speaker was not quoting anyone. Or did you see the words in quote? He was speaking His normal language for identification sake as He introduced Himself. John knew clearly by those words Who it was that was speaking to him.
