Former President Muhammadu Buhari asserts that his administration made notable progress in enhancing Nigeria’s security and economy, highlighting key achievements during his tenure.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari claimed that Nigeria experienced notable improvements in both its security situation and economy throughout his eight-year tenure.

Buhari made this statement on Wednesday when he hosted members of the Katsina State Correspondents' Chapel from the Nigerian Union of Journalists at his residence in Daura, Katsina State.

The former President emphasized that he took on significant economic and security challenges inherited from the previous Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration, which had been in power for 16 years.

He attributed the successful mitigation of terrorism and alleviation of economic difficulties to his government’s strategies.

He stated that Nigeria's security and economy saw significant improvements during his administration compared to the situation in 2015, expressing confidence that conditions in the country will keep getting better.

The former President also recognized the nation's administrative challenges, stating that only those in positions of authority fully grasp these obstacles.

In his speech, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, the Chairman of the Correspondents' Chapel, praised Buhari for his efforts in addressing terrorism, banditry, and various security challenges throughout his tenure.

Ibrahim-Jargaba also praised the former president's hard work, dedication, and selfless service, which he believes contributed to preserving the country's unity.

On Security:
From caging IPOB terror group that was beginning to spread like wildfire in their region with dangerous activities of killing hard-working men and women and also killing of innocent children in the name of referendum. You nipped them in the bud for peace to reign in the South East region otherwise their plan of becoming bigger and even yet more dangerous than Boko Haram was averted. This you did by arresting their kingpin and leader of the terrorist organization Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Boko Haram in the Northeast region was also checkmate to bring peace to the region. Baba you did well.

On economy:
Due to the excessive corruption, stealing and reckless spending during the President Jonathan's regime which is evident with the case of Dizeani Madueke and even Stella Oduah when price of crude was at its peak and yet they stole the country dry without any tangible investment and handing over and empty treasury, you, President Buhari was able to rule the country with the little or no resources and set the country on the path of progress and has now been taken over by our every loving President currently, Bola Tinubu and is leading us well to the promise land.

Baba, you came at the right time and save Nigeria. If not for Buhari, by now Nigeria would probably have been sold on Amazon or AliExpress because of the corrupt hands or PDP.

Haters will hate and want to dance the python dance. But you saved the nation and did well.

Thank you Buhari for all you did. Nigeria will NEVER forget you in its lifetime.

That’s interesting. I understand that some progress might have been made in certain areas (though we have no concrete data on that) but many citizens experienced increased hardship due to rising costs of living and security challenges throughout your tenure. From what we’ve seen, the inflation rate, unemployment, and security issues have worsened compared to the previous administration before yours and it's been on a downward spiral since your exit undecided
