In a bid to strengthen security and ensure the safety of its citizens, the Anambra State government on Tuesday, February 4, demolished three kidnappers’ dens located in Ndiezenwankwo Uruagu, Umumejiaku Uruagu, and Obiofia Nnewichi, all in Nnewi North Local Council.

The operation was led by Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim, accompanied by the Special Adviser on Community Security, Chief Ken Emeakayi; House Committee Chairman on Security and Majority Leader, Hon Ikenna Ofodeme; Nnewi North Local Council Chairman, Mr Echezona Anazodo; and Augustine Ike.

Speaking on the development, Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, described the action as a clear demonstration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to tackling criminality and fostering peace in the state.

“This underscores Governor Soludo’s war on criminality in the state, the recent launch of the Anambra security system, ‘Agụnaechemba,’ and Operation ‘Udo Ga-Achi,’ (Peace Shall Reign),” Mefor said.

According to him, the security system is equipped with advanced technology, including a state-of-the-art tracking system, command-and-control systems that integrate voice, video, and data for efficient security management, and AI-powered surveillance cameras to monitor communities across the state.

Other facilities include walkie-talkies, specialised task forces on drugs, touting, cultism, and criminal idolatry, as well as routine patrols and stop-and-search operations.
“Governor Soludo has emphasised that security, law, and order are central to his administration’s vision of creating a livable and prosperous homeland,” he added.

Mefor also noted that the dynamics of criminality in the South-East and Nigeria as a whole have evolved, requiring thoughtful, deliberate, and comprehensive responses.

He commended the governor’s efforts, describing them as pragmatic and reassuring to stakeholders.

Rubbish talk. Criminals must be pursued, caught, and handed over to the police. Nigeria must be a nation of laws and lawfulness.

God forbid this people stay in Police net. Do you know where they all came from now? Terrorist IPOB-ESN group broke prisons and released so many of condemned criminals from different prison in Imo state and Anambra state. Prison is not safe for terrorists, they will be given to fishes in Ezu river.

I totally agree with you. Many of them cannot even live in their own region which is why they are scattered all over the country like rats. Even their past governors like Peter Obi, Orji Uzo Kalu, Willie Obiano etc are either living in Lagos or the United states

My biggest problem with them is the way they export their criminality to other regions of the country.
