Most people drop out of school after writing the so called Junior WAEC.
Junior WAEC should be scrapped to discourage the fulfillment of achieving something great among drop outs and encourage continuity to SS3.

Jonathan:
That system is actually good.
It will make it compulsory for everyone to attain basic education.
If you don’t finish the whole 12, then we can call you a dropout or illiterate.

University or higher should always be a choice and if you can afford it.
Tinubu student loan policy has taken care of that concern

You are very bad person. See how you are eager to call someone an illiterate and a drop out, as if you are the one who is paying their fees for the 12years. May God not stop caring for you since you do not care for others

Nigeria keeps churning out wack journalists .
When the FEC met, it was just a proposal but I was taken aback when I read in some leading newspapers that the FG has scrapped Jss/Sss.
Model.

To what end, given Nigeria's realities? Would the students be awarded a diploma? If yes, wouldn't it be better the last 3 years be strictly vocational training so that they can have hands-on skills that could validly make University or higher education a choice?
Re: JSS, SSS not Scrapped - Education Minister, Alausa by rowrowland: 3:15pm On Feb 07, 2025
FG should remove the '4'. University education should not be made to appear compulsory. I'm prioritizing coding and business skills for my children: pass your WAEC, make yourself proud for one year, decide if you're attending university now, or later.

Even the minister is wrong. We are operating on 9-3-4 education system currently not 6-3-3-4. The minister needs to update himself.

Bloggers will always want to make money from every news. This compulsory 12 years is good and wonderful. In some schools especially private schools, primary education is now fours. This same goes for secondary education...

It was not fake news but a failed attempt to give T-Pain credit for something he lacks authority over.

If it was not called out, APC propagandists would have added it to T-Pain’s achievements since he has failed in all aspects of governance. Failed in all respects.

➜The minister, who insisted that the reports were not true, explained that he only submitted a proposal seeking to migrate to 12 years of compulsory education while retaining the current 6-3-3-4 structure.
The minister had on Thursday during the 2025 Extraordinary National Council of Education, a meeting of the highest policymaking body, held in Abuja, proposed a 12-year basic education model in Nigeria. He said it was prudent to transition from the 6-3-3-4 to the 12-4 system of education.
His proposal was misrepresented by a section of the media which reported that the government had scrapped JSS and SSS and replaced them with a new 12-year uninterrupted basic education model.
He is still saying the same thing though. What is going on here? huh🤣🤣🤣🤣

Isn't this what the reports said before this supposed correction which essentially reiterates the same? No be the same thing be this? undecided

The news yesterday said it has been scrapped.
Alausa is saying he is proposing a new model which hasn't been yet approved so the old system is still onboard pending.....

The news yesterday did not conclude that it had already been scrapped. Even he did not say the news stated that it was scrapped. He is saying the same thing I read from yesterday which is that he intends to shift to a 12-year mandatory model which is no different from the previous 6-3-3 system we already have. If he is no longer focused on the old 6-3-3 model and already moved to reasoning along his 12-year model, what does that imply? That he is still keeping the 6-3-3 system as it is? Anyways, I don't know because all of this already screams the typical scam we have come to be used to in Nigeria. undecided

He was offering clarifications here.
The confusion started from him.
Perhaps, the people he works for don't like the idea.

The confusion is still very strong with this man. Either that, or he assumes we are all eejits in that country. undecided

He is essentially repeating the same ridiculous claim that he is reported to have said yesterday which is that his 12-year idea is different from the previous 6-3-3(6+3+3 = 12) system. 🤔

Press are one of the problem of this country with unverified news.

Institution are just producing half baked journalist and sorting who are out there to just sell anything without minding to fully verify it.

The NUJ are not helping. No law to punish reporters who often sponsor fake news. Many of them, the reporters are used by the politicians and invididuals for fake reports, news or publications.

There should be law to cob these fake reporters who are not investigated in nature.

na damage control i think grin

KevMitnick:
It wasn't a fake news, the news was pushed out as is in order to check the reaction of Nigerians.
The reaction has not been encouraging at all with many people castigating the minister for being backwards in thinking. Hence, he has come out to debunk the news as fake. grin
