seborrhic:Asking someone old enough to be your father to shut up shows the type of upbringing you had. Back to the issue of palm oil... I've had my dog bitten by a snake and had already passed out. I administered the palm oil, the dog vomited some yellowish liquid and came back to life. The dog stayed alive until the following morning when the vet came and administered anti-venom. Palm Oil neutralizes the venom to an extent. Market wey you no sabi still dey sell. Humble yourself and learn. I'm talking from personal experience and not some hearsay. By the way, the local anti-venom they usually administer in the villages in cases of snake bite are applied orally. Just so you know |

fx45:Father my foot. Commonsense if you have much left should have told u to ask yourself that if palm oil found in every community and household was effective, why are people still dying from snake bites and why hasn't the active ingredient in that palm oil be extracted to be used to produce snake antidote in commercial and easily available amounts? Let me help your brain with the answer:because not all snakes, indeed less than 50% are venomous,so that bite your dog received which you think your useless palm oil therapy solved, was a "sterile" bite, meaning,no venom was injected. If you like learn from this,if you like continue wallowing and spreading your ignorance till someone dies from it. THE ONLY PROVEN THERAPY FOR SNAKE ENVENOMATION IS SNAKE ANTI VENOM DRUG,in the dosage sufficient enough to neutralise the venom. Father my foot, spreading dangerous information and still being proud about it! You further compounded my anger by mentioning local anti vevom. Infact, your case is not just lost, but a dangerous one. |

YouAreNobody:My uncle's GSD snapped a spitting Cobra into two one night. We woke up to see the snake in two halves but the dog's eyes were already swollen and red. We called a Vet immediately and after some fews day. The swollen eyes went away and the dog was normal again. |

Hausa:You are correct. Cats caught unawares will always fall prey to snakes. |

mrbonesy2k:It does. I thank God for your dog. It literally saved you from the venomous snake. The dog sacrificed itself for you. |

mrbonesy2k:The the incident happened last night and you created this thread this afternoon, I doubt this snake is a mamba or Cobra. I even doubt the venom is potent, because your dog couldn't have survived the night with a single bite talk less of being alive as at when you posted this. |
| Re: My Dog Killed This Snake by DeOTR: 11:22pm On Feb 07, 2025 |
Zubeezanga:Thank you. I don't know why anyone would think a dog will survive the night with a bite from a mamba. |
| Re: My Dog Killed This Snake by Onyiiobi7735(m): 11:27pm On Feb 07, 2025 |
Love800:The venom causes irritation to the skin and worse if it gets in contact with open wounds. |

mrbonesy2k:Your Dog was bitten. Please take care of the dog (it would be dead by now if u didn’t anyway). I have seen the snake before, but I can’t remember it name. Th red bands around the neck is what made me recall that’s venomous Give us update about your Dog |

DeOTR:^^^ The snake in that picture is a cobra although I'm not completely sure which species. The red bands are a clear sign. The species more commonly found in this country is the forest cobra - easily identified by its yellow bands. Edit: I'm not sure whether these snakes (with red or yellow bands) are all forest cobras...and whether the colour of the underbelly depends on how old the snake is. Those who know more about this can weigh in. |
