Re: My Dog Killed This Snake by Love800(m): 6:31am On Feb 08, 2025
Okay. If its only these that will happen, that means i will not die. Am i correct?
Onyiiobi7735:
The venom causes irritation to the skin and worse if it gets in contact with open wounds.
Re: My Dog Killed This Snake by Love800(m): 6:38am On Feb 08, 2025
So how do snakes get there?
We were training fowls some years ago in a bushy compound but not too many grasses sha like dat. We did not see any snake coming to harm our poultry.

I am so worried about your dog, this snake is either a mamba or cobra and they are very deadly, I just hope your dog wasn't bitten by it. Your dog needs urgent specialized medical attention embarassed
It is a Cobra, the dog should be dead by now.

This is a baby cobra, check the stripes around the snake. I'm even watching it on Natgeo wild now, Bland mambas don't have stripes for those saying. Your dog already got bitten that's why it couldn't stand nor eat. I pray it survives and keep us apprised.
Baby Cobra as how? All these funny people self.

Oga, that is a very huge Cobra there and should be about 12-13 feet if you measure it. I have killed many before, the last I killed was in 2023. I have eaten several many times too.

This is a nearly fully matured Cobra

mrbonesy2k:
At about 10:58pm yesterday, my dog barked just once, i was surprised because i just left the sitting room. I woke up this morning to see this long black snake lying dead in my sitting room outside door.
My dog couldn't stand up nor eat. But i have taken her to my vet doctor for treatment.
Please what is the name of this snake and does it have deadly venom?

The dog would be dead already if it was bitten by a mamba
This is true though, the poison reaction for a cat bra is equally an hour or two also

Can you please help me with the satellite parameters of Natgeo wild?

Thank you.

Looks like a spitting cobra. Yet another reason to get a Dog.

Looks like a mamba...

But can't tell the type from the picture.

Your dog can't eat or stand. Any bite marks?

Dogs barked just once... I am guessing it's a Rottweiler. Those ones no get time for too much noise!
The interior of its mouth is not entirely black so it's likely not a mamba. I think it is a cobra.
Re: My Dog Killed This Snake by Juliearth(f): 11:27am On Feb 08, 2025
The heat season is before us. These creatures come out to seek cooler pastures at this time of the year. All holes, cracks and door openings must be taken care of. No matter how hot the weather is, please do not leave your doors wide open for ventilation. If there is an opening beneath your door, fill it up with clothes or whatever can serve. Clear out bushes outside and clutter inside....

Shut up!
Palm oil won't do anything to help the dog.
Venom enters the blood and not "eaten" or swallowed. That is the only routevthrough which palm oil could have been of very limited help.
Spitting ignorance with full chest.
Bushman!!
Fats slow down venom mobility

Not a mamba. That’s a red bellied west African spitting cobra. Very prominent in Nigeria and is known to gravitate towards farms with chickens and eggs.

Domestic cat, some birds, honeybadger and some other animals kill snakes easily, especially cat. The snake is either a forest or spitting cobra. For sure, from the writers notions about the dog, the snake had bitten the dog, hence the reason foe the dog sickly behaviour. But thank God he quickly called the vet to come to the dog's aid...
That snake is venomous
Most animals can kill a snake. They are not that physically strong except the pythons and boas. It’s the venom that is the problem.

There are mambas in Nigeria. I have killed one before. Green in color with a black pigmentation inside the mouth

When it comes to snakes I wouldn’t rule it out. Moving from the southern part of Africa to the western part isn’t something that is impossible for snakes, it’s not like they’re crossing continents.

How do they use bitter cola to chase away snakes please
Don’t heed to such advice, get a vermin eradicator to spray your surroundings, that’s your safest bet.

It is possible they were also intentionally introduced into the area... Unless there is another family of snakes that also have a black pigmentation in their mouths. Surely not all creatures that exist in our ecosystem are known to the scientists

Juliearth:
Fats slow down venom mobility
Fats MAY slow down poisons ingested, not,NEVER,venom that is passed through the blood vessel.
This stuff is very easy if you understand this:substances injected through the blood must be neutralized through the blood, basic principle.
Once a toxic substance gets into the blood,it tackles the blood or destroys the circulation that the entire body needs,or in otherwords,if a body system for example, the kidney is still able to receive blood supply, that blood is tainted with "toxins",destroying the kidneys,or the brain or the lungs, etc.
So how does palm oil you eat or drink help?
Palm oil that would take at least 6hours to be digested before the body gets the active components it needs from it,viz, fats, carbonhydrate, bit of minerals, none of which by the way,has any effect on venom, whenever the aforementioned end products enter the blood stream to be used by the body.
Another way to help you is this:if palm oil delays the venom, why all these years, scientists have not been telling people,"if snake bites you, before bringing the person to a Hospital, give palm oil first aid"?
Or you think palm oil is produced only in Nigeria?
