Woman in Tears as ₦243K Vanishes 20 Minutes After ATM Seizes Card —Inside Job Suspected?

A woman was filmed crying uncontrollably while a crowd watched, refusing to be consoled after the money her husband gave her for shop rent was wiped from her account.

According to reports, her bank’s ATM seized her card while she was trying to withdraw cash. She went inside to report the issue to the bank staff, but they told her to return the following Monday to retrieve it. However, just 20 minutes later, over ₦240,000 was withdrawn from her account via a POS terminal.

The question is, who is behind the withdrawal, considering that her ATM card was still stuck in the machine? Obviously, someone must have gained access to the card. Since this happened within just 20 minutes of her card getting stuck, it is safe to assume that the person behind the withdrawal is an insider at the bank, possibly using a POS machine located inside the bank or within its premises.

BTW,who still goes to the ATM to make withdrawals these days?,when POS vendors are everywhere? Even transferring of funds have made it easy for Nigerians.......

These people do more harm than good to citizens.

The POS terminal and operator can be located, even if the operator is mobile. All the terminals have their IDs and the withdrawal information is in her bank.

Again, you never can trust some bank officials. Some crooked elements work in the bank, collaborating with external criminals to steal from people’s accounts.

Let us all learn this lesson.

Setup an only ATM/POS account and from you main account you will fund the ATM/POS account when you need to use ATM/POS.

How did the person know her Password.

At the time of the debit the ATM is in custody of the bank, they are responsible for it then

Nawaoh but how could this be possible without the help of insider in the bank...first bank should trace her money and give it back to her...she's crying because it will be difficult for her husband to believe such story...

Never take an atm card with much money to withdraw, I have two accounts one as my main savings the other for spending, I only transfer little cash into it for immediate spending.

The bank should be held responsible, she should report to Cbn....

She has no reasons to cry if her card was seized by the machine.

Bank don't returned seize card, they will ask you to get new one.

Her card was with the bank, so the bank are fully responsible and will pay her back every penny.

Withdrawal from POS means the withdrawal was with the card.

A country where everybody is a thief. What do you expect! She should sue the bank for theft.

There are many questions begging for answer

If her card get stucked in d ATM machine, even if anyone has access to her card how did they access her pin?

Like, does the ATM card automatically reveal pin to anyone inside d machine?

N besides the POS that was used for withdrawal no get address?

The address on the transaction alert should b traced now

This is just an open case to me, but there are many questions to b asked

....and if, after she waited for like 10 minutes she left, probably cos network failure, and wen network came back, the card came out to the the hands of stranger?


......if the woman gave it to stranger and told the person her password to help her collect the money, in which the stranger used cunning way to change her 🏧. Meanwhile, after the person withdrew it, the woman now shouting "it was inside ATM machine, knowing fully well that, her husband might sent her parking if she says, she gave it for someone to assist? That's, "Saying, inside machine as a way of soft landing".

Thats true o! the last time i visited the bank was during naira scarcity and i dont even have atm card for almost 2yrs now

He went to Ecobank to make withdrawal. The atm machine ceased his card. He complained to the security guy that was there and the security guard told him to go inside and complain to customer care. Before my neighbour could stepped out of the banking hall he started receiving debit alert of 200k..

K, some banks have been employing yahoo boys since there has been brain drain,and all guys flying out, those idiot u see in bank with flashy cars,the are yahoo boys in disguise,forget the package,no be for salary dem money dey com, na the bank run am street,let them call icpc with efcc and investigate there staff,from security to there yeye contract staff that want to meet up by stealing from the public

Nothing concerns POS with what happened, locating the pos operator is not issue... It's impossible to locate who made the withdrawal, unless by some miracle the pos agent knows the withdrawal.

bro let me tell u one reality

If your card get stucked n u enter instantly, no b security go get access to your card. It is only people designated to load the ATM machine n they are few.

So if she's sure the ATM machine swallowed her card, n before she stepped out of the bank she got alert the best thing is to stay in d bank n let customer care trace transaction alert instantly

Because there's no way your ATM card can get stucked n it will b taken out of the bank that very moment
