Cyber crime detectives, where are you? 1. It is impossible for the same card that was trapped in an ATM to be used physically to withdraw money from a Pos while the card is still trapped. It's likely her card was swapped without her knowing. Hence the card got trapped because she entered her correct pin on the wrong card. Getting out the card will prove that. 2. The next question is who did it and how was it done? It could be someone close to her, that gained access to her pin(I have seen this happen) , or a stranger pretending to help which is usually the case. |

We are just too emotional in this country. We just jump into conclusion without proper investigation. Truth is, the woman may not be saying the whole truth. What I feel happened based on someone's experience is that, they might have swapped her card before she even attempted the withdrawal and maybe while she might have tried the swapped card using her PIN thinking it's her card, the ATM will seize the card. Main while the fraudster who swapped the card may be using it somewhere else like POS in her case while she is expecting to retrieve her supposed card from the bank. So, how can these be ascertained, let her wait for the card to be retrieved and let her confirm if the card is hers but in a case where the name on it is no longer visible, she can visit her bank and they will confirm if through the card serial number if it's hers or it was swapped. So let's not jump into emotional conclusion |

Sonnobax15:The bolded is completely unnecessary and only shows you don't have sense. You're 99% more likely to have your money stolen from using POS than using ATM. The matter at hand is someone having her money stolen not who uses POS or who doesn't |

The withdrawal is most likely not done in bank or bank staff. Based on experience, the ATM could possibly have been swapped without the woman knowing. If the trapped ATM is retrieved, there 💯 assurance the woman ATM will not be there. She might likely requested for an assistant to operate the ATM, in the course of that, the presumed Samaritan would have swapped the ATM not knowing |

She has fallen victim to a card swap fraudster. Don't allow strangers to assist you at the ATM if you don't want to fall victim. To be forewarned is to be forearmed |

The thing seems like this: her account was possibly hacked by an earlier transaction she did with a POS Machine. so on going to the bank, the fraudsters having her card pin, details etc. easily caused her network disruption/seizing of arm card. With her card in the machine, the fraudsters will quickly siphon her funds so the bank will bear the loss Something similar happened to someone I know Reason I hardly use use ATM card to withdraw from POS machines. I'd rather transfer with bank app to the POS Account |

The Person has access to her bank details specifically her date of birth. Most people's 4 digit ATM pin is their date of birth. |

so sad. I'm familiar with this kind of story. it's obvious her ATM card was swapped by people around the ATM. She should tell the full story. someone must have offered to help her withdraw and in the process swapped her card with an expired card which will be immediately swallowed by the ATM. She must have even given the good (bad) samaritan her details. I was a victim of this although Immediately blocked my card before they could withdraw. |

This same First Bank is why I stopped using ATM especially if it's not my bank's. On this particular occasion, their bank's ATM seized my card and when I went inside to retrieve it, I was told it can't be released to me, that it was one stupid CBN policy. I mean, they won't release the card to me, and won't release it to my bank either. Very anyhow bank. |

Banks should begin to go careless with their ATMs, a Finger print reader should be included in ATMs, you type your Account number, Bank and account type, you place your finger on the finger print reader and it allows you carry out your transaction from your bank. Guys let's forward this to CBN to beat ATM scammers. Avoid weekend transactions, scammers take advantage of Banks closure to commit their crime. |

From experience I think what happened to her was that probably while trying to make the withdrawal, someone might have approached her pretending to help her but instead swapped her ATM card. Maybe she only enter a wrong pin on the swapped card and as a result of this got swallowed by the machine. Something similar to this happened in one UBA Bank at dopemu under bridge last year December. |

It might have been planned by the security man and someone on the queue behind the woman, immediately she was adviced to go in and complain, the person behind her would have removed the ATM card and go to the nearby POS. The ATM will not be found at the ATM vault, the person behind her in pretence of withdrawing money would have removed the ATM card. It has happened to one of my church members before. Next time, don't leave the ATM vault and watch closely the next person that mount to withdraw. |

Nobody is stating the obvious. The woman withdrew all the money and then put back her ATM and purposely typed in wrong PIN like 3 times and the ATM seized the card. Meaning she had this whole elaborate scheme planned out so she can deceive maybe her husband who owns the money. She wants to keep the money for herself. So this display of emotion is to prove that she genuinely lost the money 😆😆😆😆 |

This same thing happened to my neighbor last year October. He sent her daughter to a zenith bank near our street to withdraw 5k , The card got stocked in the ATM. Before the girl could digest the instruction of “go and call the account owner” by the security personnel her mother mother have called and asked her why she withdrew 450k. T |

Rebuker:Her card must have been swapped by a "good Samaritan" and when she tried to use it and entered her PIN severally, the machine seized it... meanwhile the person that swapped her card and probably watched the owner enter her PIN, went to another ATM/POS to make withdrawal... ![]() |
