uthman2019:“ According to reports, her bank’s ATM seized her card while she was trying to withdraw cash. She went inside to report the issue to the bank staff, but they told her to return the following Monday to retrieve it. However, just 20 minutes later, over ₦240,000 was withdrawn from her account via a POS terminal”. Aboki, that’s part of the story posted. Oya, tell me where you read about total strangers helping the woman. |

Once my card has any story, I BLOCK the card. The cost of a new card will save you from any funny game. I also login to the account online and transfer the funds somewhere else. THE WOMAN WAS NOT SMART AT ALL. |

ATM did not trap the card but the card was swapped... What you will made to belief is that ATM trapped her card but once you checked the cctv, you would see the syndicates beside her acting as if they are helping her. One will be swapping the card while the other will be noting than the PIN. They will made her insert already stolen card and of cause, ATM will automatically trap 'reported lost card '. They will advise her to go and report to security and in less that 10mns, they would have withdrawn all the money in the account since they have their POS terminal. We call it 'card swap fraud' Make sure there is no body beside you when you are using ATM. You have right to be alone in front of the machine. |

Mandate1:Assuming but not conceding that her card shot out while she went to report the seizure in the ATM machine, except the thief was close by observing her pin code, how else would the money be stolen in the few minutes that she was away from there? There’s the possibility of a card swap. However without close contact to view the pin, it is worthless to steal from within those twenty or so minutes. If you read through, you’d see that there were several people around the machine. If the card shot out, did others not see it along with or before the assumed thief? When your card is withheld by the machine, in the instant the officer in charge right inside the bank, can retrieve it and return it to you, if that card belongs to the same bank. Do you not know that the ATM has a tiny camera that films pin codes? What if the officer has access and can tag pins to cards using the codes? Is it not possible, knowing what some crooked bank officials do, for the bank officer to collude with outsiders to withdraw the funds? Are you not aware that a lot of bank staff have their own POS terminals and agents working for them? |

Ezsam70:Did anyone come close to her at the ATM machine to help her with the withdrawal process. I asked this question because of those who have quickly assumed it was a card swap. For the sake of clarity, can you tell us what happened in the case of your wife? |

ElevationD:Even the wife will tell you that no body helped her but once you check the cctv, you will see it clearly. It just 'card swap' and it's very rampant now. We just have to be smart. Before the era of POS, once they swapped, the went straight to another ATM and the bank will request for the footages and the details of the transactions from the other bank. And they will be able to nail the syndicates. But with the POS, there is very little banks can do as there is nothing to work it. |

That means someone with access to the ATM copied how she input the pin too. It has to be in those southern states. |

GOFRONT:These days thieves steal from their victims with hate. They can take ₦100k and be okay, they had to clean her account. You would think she was the enemy. |

Fiscus105:Yes, it is from the bank officials, it has happened to 2 of my colleagues in the office, immediately the card was seized by the ATM machine, there was cash withdrawal from their accounts, one was from FCMB Ikorodu branch, the other one GTB. Since then it has thought me a great lesson that the amount I am using for ATM withdrawal should be the exact amount in that account, I normally have 2: accounts, I usually transfer money from the main account to the account I am using for ATM/ POS. I prefer transfer charges as against total illegal withdrawal from my account |

She must have compromised her pin, prolly with those guys that hover around atm terminals offering to help people who wants to use the atm. Those guys are so clever and swift in swapping atm cards with the one with them. Imputing your pin on the swapped card will trapped your card automatically after 3 attempts and they, with the your card and prolly with the knowledge of your pin will move to another location to loot your account. I witnessed so many cases when I was working in a bank. |

Simply card swap. Don't allow strangers assist you at ATM terminals they won't listen. Fraudsters will swap your card without you noticing. |

Ijaya123:When he will stand behind her trying to help her when she is punching her password repeatedly? She will just not admit what she stupidly did. ATM points have cameras, they should refer to them, they'd see what she did. |

I think what happened to her was a card swap. The Card that was trapped in the machine was properly not her own. |

90 percent of bank staffs are criminals. When I have millions in my account they will be smiling at me and be pampering me but when my account is lean ,they will ignore me. I don't give them my account no but it use to surprise me |

One needs to be very careful with Nigeria banks. Banks are actively stealing people's money from their accounts. My father inlaw had similar experience with pos machine. All our thoughts was that the pos man was behind it. After reviewing transactions history and nothing was found, we got court order to query the bank. The money was returned before we delivered the court order and the bank cannot provide any genuine explanation as to what happened to the money in the first place. |
