TikToker Seaking Released From Nigerian Police Custody In Abuja After Rearrest In Lagos Court

Nigerian tiktoker, Olumide Ogunsanwo, popularly known as Seaking, has been released from the custody of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja, days after his rearrest on allegations of cyberbullying.

Seaking was taken into custody last Thursday on the premises of a Lagos State court, where he had initially faced legal proceedings.

Following his arrest, he was transferred to Abuja.

Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, confirmed Seaking's release on Monday via his X account.

According to Sowore, the police had initially imposed a bail condition requiring a Level 10 or 12 civil servant as surety, which was swiftly rejected.

A new agreement was reached, leading to Seaking’s release on administrative bail, with Sowore himself signing as a guarantor.

"We are pleased to confirm that Olumide Ogunsanwo @seaking303 has been released from Nigeria Police Force custody, subsequent to our prompt rejection of the initial bail condition requiring a Level 12 or 10 civil servant, resulting in a swift agreement and release on administrative bail, signed by me.

"Great thanks to Inibehe Effiong, Adeyanju Deji, Tope Temokun and Marshal D F Abubakar and the great community of conscientious citizens who reject oppression of all kinds in our nation! #RevolutionNow,"
Sowore added.

Previously, SaharaReporters reported that the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, also called for the release of SeaKing who was rearrested on Thursday on the Lagos State court premises.

Speaking during a church programme on Friday, February 7, Pastor Adeboye had distanced himself from the arrest, stating that some individuals angered by Seaking’s remarks took it upon themselves to take action.

He had urged the Nigerian police to release the social media influencer, saying, "Seaking is fulfilling prophecy."

SeaKing, who was initially arrested over allegations of cyberbullying, was taken to Abuja following his rearrest.
Adeboye, however, clarified that he had no involvement in the matter.

The RCCG General Overseer had said, “I heard that someone lambasted me thoroughly. What is my offence? Because I asked my people to fast for 100 days? I didn’t ask him. I didn’t even ask anyone who isn’t a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to fast—only my children. God said it would happen.

“I was told that some people got angry and went to arrest the fellow. Release him. He is fulfilling prophecy."

Redeemed Church RCCG Asks Nigerian Police To Continue Investigation On Tiktoker Seaking, Says 'Law Must Take Its Course'

NEWS

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has stated that the earlier call for the release of detained TikToker, Olumide Ogunsanwo, more commonly known as "SeaKing" did not mean his trial would not go on.

In a statement released on Monday by the Public Relations Unit, Office of the Principal Executive Assistant to the General Overseer, RCCG Worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the church clarified its position, stating that due legal processes must be followed.

The statement read, “There has been a video in circulation calling for the release of Olumide Ogunsanwo (Seaking303) by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye. However, it is important to note that the earlier videos containing potentially defamatory statements had not been thoroughly examined."

The RCCG church noted that upon careful review of the concerns raised regarding certain statements and allegations, it had become necessary to allow the law to take its course.

"It is important to properly understand Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye's statement during the Holy Ghost Service Night on Saturday regarding Olumide Ogunsanwo (Seaking303)."

The statement explained that the Church does not intend to interfere with the ongoing police investigation, especially as there is an official complaint filed by the Concerned Christian Youth Forum against Olumide Ogunsanwo John (Seaking303) and others on behalf of the Fathers of Faith, including Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye.

"Therefore, we trust that the relevant authorities will carry out their investigations profession-ally and reach a just conclusion based on the law. While Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye maintains a heart of love and reconciliation, due process must be followed.

"We also caution against cyberbullying and inappropriate commentary regarding Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, The Redeemed Christian Church of God, and the body of Christ at large.

"Furthermore, the Church encourages respectful discourse and will continue to promote a culture of honour while discouraging defamatory and disrespectful statements. Respect for spiritual leaders is a deeply held value in our faith and culture.

"We encourage all to engage in constructive and respectful discussions, honouring those who have laboured in the faith," Adeboye added.

On Saturday, SaharaReporters reported that the RCCG General Overseer, Adeboye called for the immediate release of SeaKing, who was rearrested on Thursday on the Lagos State court premises.

Speaking during a church programme on Friday, February 7, Adeboye had distanced himself from the arrest, stating that some individuals angered by Seaking’s remarks took it upon themselves to take action.

Adeboye, however, clarified that he had no involvement in the matter.

The general overseer had said, “I heard that someone lambasted me thoroughly. What is my offence? Because I asked my people to fast for 100 days? I didn’t ask him. I didn’t even ask anyone who isn’t a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to fast —only my children. God said it would happen.

I've noticed that pastors practice alot of attacks than forgiveness.

These days pastors will easily arrest you and use the police to intimidate you... But barely preach forgiveness.

Dunamis pastor always arresting and detening... Same with the one that slammed VDM 1billion bucks over selling of soaps and products from heaven.... Now this daddy G.O.

God, I thank you for not making me a fool for these idiots who Syphon offerings from their gullible followers and use the money to intimidate the same people making them richer.

Seaking's Lawyer, Inibehe Effiong Vows To Join RCCG, Pastor Adeboye In Lawsuit If Church Doesn't Withdraw Press Statement

February 10, 2025
NEWS

Nigerian TikToker, Olumide John Ogunsanwo, also known as Seaking, has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), and the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, demanding a retraction of a press statement regarding allegations of cyberstalking and defamation.

Seaking’s lead counsel and human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, warned that a legal action would be taken against Adeboye and RCCG if they fail to withdraw the statement.

Effiong argued that Pastor Adeboye could not be considered a victim of alleged cyberstalking or defamation while another party serves as the complainant.

He stated that "mere vulgar abuse or insults" do not constitute a criminal offence in Nigeria, and defamation or cyberstalking cases could not be pursued through proxies.

Effiong added that since Pastor Enoch Adeboye had initially distanced himself from the matter.

He said they had decided not to join him and the church as respondents in any fundamental rights enforcement suit.

According to Effiong, "We will sue pastor Adeboye and RCCG if they fail to retract their statement within 24 hours.

"We can confirm that our client Mr. Olumide John Ogunsanwo alias @seaking303 has been released on administrative bail by the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja.

Recall that Seaking was rearrested after his appearance at the Magistrate Court, Ogba, Lagos on Thursday, 6th February, 2025 and flown to Abuja at the instance of the Cybercrimes Unit of the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID).

Effiong said, "We are particularly grateful to Comrade @YeleSowore for his spirited efforts, and for taking our client on administrative bail. We also appreciate our learned colleagues in Abuja, namely: Abubakar Marshal, Tope Tomekun and @adeyanjudeji for their solidarity.
"In the meantime, our attention has been drawn to a provocative public statement issued by the public relations unit of the @rccghq on this case."

According to the human rights lawyer, "The Church in the statement conceded that Pastor Adeboye is not behind the petition that led to the arrest of Seaking, but it nonetheless suggested that the law should take its course based on a petition written by a certain busybody named James Paul Adama masquerading under the name of “Concerned Christian Youth Forum”.

"The Church stated that the petition was written by the forum “on behalf of the Fathers of Faith, including Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye”.

Effiong stated "To be clear, purported injuries suffered as a result of any act of alleged cyberstalking or alleged defamation are personal in law and not transferable.

"Pastor Adeboye cannot be the victim of alleged cyberstalking or defamation, while another person pretends to act as the complainant.

"It should also be stated that mere vulgar abuse or ‘insults’ are not criminal offences in Nigeria. Mere vulgar abuse is neither defamatory nor cyberstalking.
Effiong added that cyberstalking and defamation cannot be pursued through proxies.

"Since Pastor Enoch Adeboye had initially distanced himself from the matter, we had decided not to join him and the Church as respondents in any fundamental rights enforcement suit.

"We do not know what motivated the capitulation by the Church, as evidenced by the eccentric statement issued by the Public Relations Unit of the RCCG.

"It is pertinent to state that the fundamental rights of Olumide Ogunsanwo have already been breached, as he was detained beyond the permissible constitutional timeline, and without legally tenable grounds," he said.

He said, "Since the RCCG has decided to associate itself with the busybody petitioner and to drag Pastor Enoch Adeboye into the pit of illegality dug by the police and the busybody complainant, they must understand the legal implications.

"We are now left with no choice but to join Pastor Enoch Adeboye as a party to any action we would be filing for the enforcement of the fundamental rights of Seaking. This capitulation may also entail Pastor Adeboye having to personally testify in court in any criminal charge brought by the police, and him being subjected to cross-examination.

"We demand that Pastor Adeboye and the RCCG should retract their statement within the next 24 hours if they want to avoid being made parties to the legal proceedings.
"It is important for Pastors and Christian leaders in our country to live by the true tenets of Christianity."

Effiong explained that Pastors who resort to weaponising the police to witch-hunt those who speak against them stand the risk of having their calling questioned.

"Vengeance should be of the Lord as admonished in the Bible, not of the police. However, where a pastor is determined to pursue an eye for an eye, he or she must be careful not to overreach his critic, abuser or adversary, and must be mindful not to violate the due process of law while seeking redress from earthly institutions.
"Our next line of action will be communicated," Effiong added.

The church should never take people to worldly courts to seek justice and retribution.

Now some are taking people to court for cyberbullying? Is that what the bible says?

Did Paul the apostle accuse anyone of bullying?
All these gods of men and their yeye moves, behaving like power drunk politicians and 'diddy oil' yeyebrity.

I never knew that this tiktoker existed till they paid the police to arrest him.

If Paul the apostle was alive today, he would use this familiar words to address the clown that wrote that petition. 'O ye f¤¤lish.... Who has bewitched you? That you bribed a police to arrest someone.... '
