Ekiti guber: I don’t need my brother’s support to defeat Gov Oyebanji – Emmanuel Fayose

Governorship aspirant Otunba Emmanuel Fayose has criticized his elder brother, former Governor Ayodele Fayose, for endorsing Governor Biodun Oyebanji, describing it as an act of betrayal against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, Otunba Fayose condemned the former governor’s decision to back an APC governor instead of working to strengthen the PDP.


“I am still at a loss about why a PDP chieftain will be endorsing a governor elected on another platform, APC.


“This is nothing but acting in bad faith and a betrayal of trust, considering what former governor Mr Ayodele Fayose has benefitted from the PDP in the past. Rather than build the party, he is busy destroying it,” he stated.

Otunba Fayose, who is vying for the PDP governorship ticket ahead of the 2026 Ekiti election, urged party leaders to unite behind his candidacy to “rescue Ekiti State from lousy governance” under the ruling APC.

Despite the internal party rift, he expressed confidence that the PDP will win the election, adding that the Oyebanji administration has failed abysmally.

However, Emmanuel was correct.
PDP gave Ayo Fayose the opportunity in 2003. His victory was considered a slap in the face for the elite class in Ekiti. With all the heavily educated citizens of the state that year like Femi Falana, Afe Babalola, etc, an unknown person won the election. He prostrated before the elite to appeal and beg them to accept his victory.

After his fallout with OBJ and impeachment, he decamped to Labour Party where he lost an election. He also started to team up with BAT. In all however, he could not make any inroads until he returned to the same PDP. He contested the second time for governorship and won. PDP made Fayose, just like it made Wike. The same Fayose made friends with Wike and the rest became history.

His brother has no hope of securing the governorship ticket, how much more the position. Oyebanji has made friendship across all parties and consolidated his position, making it hard to remove him at the next election.

I am not a fan of Ekiti state, either APC..

But since there are not better opposite candidates to compete..

Then would rather endorse, present APC governor...

Not only in south west, it is everywhere in Nigeria. In kwara state, the people of Kwara served baba Oloye and served Bukola. Bukola was a 2 terms governor and senator too while his sister Gbemisola too was elected as senator.
In Jigawa sule Lamido served as governor, his son was HOR member, Ibori daughter also elected has member of HOR, T. Orji was governor his son was speaker.....
Elrufai was 2 term governor, his son is now HOR member.
The list is endless. It is everywhere not only in SW.
Even in USA and other developed countries
