A40:Almost all his rhymes were sloppy and out of place on the beat on Not Like Us And all his punchlines were generic nonsense that have been used on Battle Rap forums for decades. I would know. It's like using de-feet/defeat lines, we battle rappers know what lines are overplayed/bitten, just like A Minor I can't continue this conversation with you if you think Not like us is in anyway the writing of an accomplished pen. I'm glad you said Drake got his flow from Phonte cos he did. Phonte is a good rapper. Now go and YouTube Planet Asia, one below average West Coast rapper from the 90s and early 2000s and tell me if that's not Kendrick. |

GloriousGbola:I don't think it's bizarre to expect the GM of an oil company to have his own place. He is doing alright compensation wise. BlueRayDick:There's an explanation. Tommy used to be rich. He had his own outfit. Became successful but lost it all in a bust cycle. He may be more frugal because of that experience. Secondly, the wife and daughter were originally on a visit. After spring break, the wife was to return to her now ex and the daughter to college. They stayed longer than they should have. The living arrangement is perfectly fine when you exclude the August visitors. It's just two aged bachelors sharing a house. Nothing out of the ordinary. Speaker McCarthy rented a room from Pollster Frank Luntz during COVID. At the time he was the House Minority Leader. That's an arrangement that'll work with even two tech execs who are friends but do not have large families. The workers get man camps. The execs live in a spacious estate. If they had families at the time of renting, they'll opt to live separately. Not to mention, the series did not dig into their finances. They could have multiple properties elsewhere in the country. This is the one close to work. Texas is HUGE! -Lord |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 12:37pm On Feb 11, 2025 |
LordAdam16:Well, I was thinking at least at least Tommy should be living a decent life eating good food, having his own maid, having a driver who drives him and living in a decent house even as a bachelor. I get the angle of Tommy being a top guy who lost everything when there was oil bust, but as of present he is a GM of a mid sized oil company; the company should be able to provide decent accommodation to each of their senior staff not the GM and the attorney to the company sharing the same building. The attorney making use of the house as office even makes it look somehow especially when u consider how Monty lives flamboyant lifestyle at the headquarters. |

iamoyindamola:Tommy has lost it all before. He shouldn't be running another man's shop. The Governor knows him on a first name basis. He is a walking cautionary tale to Cami. Liquidate and throw the proceeds in an index fund. That's Monty's request. Live like a Queen forever. She only has two daughters and she's no spring chicken who'll have more. Monty left her something significant. The show didn't state a concrete amount But this play was his shot at becoming a billionaire. She wants to go through with it. Tommy gave her the correct advice. He'll still make out like a bandit either way. -Lord |

iamoyindamola:I'm sure people will come for Pamilerin and Lawrence (The guy that owns Yabaleft) cos they were part of the Influencers on Twitter that got the gig to promote discussion around Telecoms increasing their rates. Sometimes last year those aforementioned guys and some other influencers who were obviously paid by the Telecoms just started discussion about why Telecoms have not increased their rates/prices when every other sector has adjusted prices due to inflation. People immediately called them Black Jesus/Judas for taking money to influence such discussion. I think Lawrence later deleted the thread sef. Earlier this year when it was almost certain telecoms operator had gotten FG's nod to review their prices/rates, people still cuss Pamilerin, Lawrence and co . Only God knows what they will be doing to them now on Twitter |

LordAdam16:I thought that was him trying to chicken out, Monty trusted him to continue running the business even though he's made some bad choices before Like you said, cami and the 2 daughters have some money to fall back to which is why I don't think selling the oil company is the best advice |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by LordAdam16: 1:06pm On Feb 11, 2025 |
BlueRayDick:🙂 He can eat good food if he wants. He just has to make an effort to. He doesn't need a live-in maid. They would have a housekeeper who comes in weekly when they're away at work to tidy up. He doesn't need a driver. He is involved in the day to day. Driving a company truck to supervise operations is literally in his job description. The driver, mansion, fractional jet ownership, fancy midday meals perks come when you answer to a board or no one. Even then, you only score those after you've gotten past a specific threshold. You also wouldn't be making routine stops at wells unless something catastrophic happens. The show does a good job of portraying how that industry operates. The frequency of accidents is overdone though. OSHA is a beast. -Lord |

Ibime:You're referring to So Far Gone and Thank Me Later, Drake. And even at that, there is like 3 or 4 songs tops that mimics Phonte's flow. Even Joe Budden was one of the earliest influences on Drake's flow. But Drake uses damn near 40+ flows, on different beats and with different producers. It is beyond criminal for anyone to reduce him to Phonte. It will be like someone saying Eminem jacked Master Ace's flow just because he copied his voice inflections. Drake's rapping on the Scary Hours Version of FATD sounds nothing like Phonte, for e.g. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m): 1:43pm On Feb 11, 2025 |
Android17:I know say you sabi with that Masta Ace reference but your timeline is the other way around. Masta Ace copied Eminems 1998 cadence on Disposable Arts in 2001 so it's Masta Ace that borrowed from Eminem's style and not vice versa. Masta Ace previous work in 1995 didn't have those patterns. Eminem took parts of his style from Pace Won when he was with Outsiders in 1996. I don't really listen to Drake but the rhyme pattern of his that makes me respect him is the Phonte pattern. That let me know his pen is accomplished. And that is his most accomplished flow pattern of which he got mastery. Can't really speak for all those Future/drill patterns cos I don't rate those patterns. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Android17: 2:01pm On Feb 11, 2025 |
Ibime:Mehn, you are ahead of me. I always thought Disposable Art was 1995 but I guess I had misremembered it. Concerning Drake, I'll say when he is trying to rap like a purist, one can hear more of his Phonte influences. But that purist Drake depends on the type of beat or producer. He has Hov's 'Lost One's flows, Lupe Fiasco's etc etc. I'm curious to know what you think of Scary Hours Disk 2 portion of FATD. It has like 6 tracks. |

BlueRayDick:Shalaye don full bucket ![]() Nigerian's are fond of pointing fingers at the wrong things, maybe na social engineering sha, but I wonder how they expect the cost of practically everything else they know to have increased by at least 100% in the past two years, yet magically expect data and call prices to remain same. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 2:14pm On Feb 11, 2025 |
Theflint1:I believe most people know the increment was going to happen sooner or later, they are just pissed that those influencers collected money to start the discussion on social media ni. Normally Nigerians always like to look for who to para for . Me I know the increment will definitely happen because almost all the telecos' operating costs have increased astronomically. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 2:24pm On Feb 11, 2025 |
BlueRayDick:I don't think so o, a lot of Nigerian's expect the network providers not to increase prices or even they do, keep it low, like around 10-15%. Maybe they forget these network providers are for-profit businesses. I just hope the price increases means they restore full service, cause these days it takes grace for you to make a 3-minute call without it dropping multiple times. |

iamoyindamola:I had to watch the opening of the finale again to make sure I wasn't misremembering. Taylor spells out the quandary. The executor plainly said Monty's request was for Tommy to become President and for him to liquidate the company. He was making Tommy President so he could sell the company for the best possible price. Proceeds will be split between a Foundation and a Trust. Cami will run the Foundation. It'll keep her busy. Tommy will run the Trust. He'll focus on preservation of the wealth and conservative growth for Monty's family. Tommy still has the ultimate responsibility to ensure Cami and the kids are well off in perpetuity. It's a huge responsibility and he took the safest option (which I'll repeat Monty authorized as well). Go back to episode 7 to understand why Tommy and Monty are skittish. Monty did not want to use a bank for this deal. He wanted to leverage himself up the wazoo on this deal or as he said "push all his chips to the middle". If everything works out, he becomes a billionaire in 48 months. If it doesn't, as Tommy said, the company shuts down in a year. And because Monty is leveraged to the hilt, there'll be foreclosures and repossessions. Cami will go from billionaire-in-waiting to middle class within a year. Monty is not leaving Cami an hospital system or a shipping line. This is a "I'm only comfortable making this play when I'm in the driver's seat". If I'm out of the picture, sell it off. F*cking sell it. Ultimately, Cami has opted to roll the dice. Fully cognizant of the high stakes. Since it's fictional, it'll likely work out. In the real world, and again as Tommy said in the finale, more rich folks go broke than become $ billionaires. -Lord |

Theflint1:When he price of fuel has gone almost 5 times, And most masts are powered by generator Telco employees salaries would also have been reviewed upwards to match inflationary trends, Bread, pure water even Govt minimum wage has gone up So how realistic is it to keep prices the same, Anyway until you offer services for free and go bankrupt people will cuss at you |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by iamoyindamola(m): 2:34pm On Feb 11, 2025 |
Theflint1:Nah They know their will be increment just like dstv they have given notice since last year people just decide to ignore Honestly our ISP have tried to maintain the prices for years There was a time 100mb was 1k |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 2:39pm On Feb 11, 2025 |
Theflint1:People holding that point of view are either ignorant or just selfish. Almost very goods and even services available has experienced increase in price ; so it is expected the Telecos adjust their own prices to reflect the current economic realities. I'm sure the telecos' employees would've had their salaries reviewed at least twice from 2023 till date. Except the telecos want to be running at a loss and be unable to meet their financial obligations, they just have no choice but to increase their own price too. I don't think the drop in their network/service has anything to do with the increment in tariffs sha |

BlueRayDick:I hear it does, that they've been downing tools to reduce operational costs, or what else could be the reason? |

BlueRayDick:The network speed those people are dishing out, one would think data is free. No one should pay for such subpar service. |
