The telcos reduced the cost of data consistently from 2008 to 2020.
Inflation went through the roof during the same period.

Nigerians have been overpaying for telecom services since its introduction.
The telcos have absurd margins.
Fine. Let's accept no more price cuts because of economic realities.
Why the hell are they still going above the NCC's 50% cap?

They asked for 100%. NCC accepted 50%. MTN increased by 200%. Did they not receive the memo or are they regulating themselves?

The network speed those people are dishing out, one would think data is free. No one should pay for such subpar service.

I use MTN and from my own experience their network speed is not bad particularly on 5G enabled devices. I can't speak for netwrok providers sha

My issue with DSTV is clear and simple:" Pay as you Go". Telecos already have that and u are in control of what u use.

DSTV on the other hand does not take into cognizance the periods u travel out of station and ur DSTV decoder is lying idle for two weeks out of the 4 weeks that make a month. The sub will expire without u enjoying the service to a premium; whereas u can contol how long ur data/airtime lasts.

If DSTV adopts PAYG today, I wouldn't really be worried about them increasing price and days when it rains all day and network is unavailable

It is left for NCC to call them to order as regards the margin permissible for the increment.

You can say Nigerians have been overpaying for telecoms' services since inception, but u and I know they do their financial accounts yearly like all business enterprise. They definitely won't say because they've made excess profit in the past, then they will be comfortable making losses in present day when the business environment is very harsh

They increase every market days, the ISP they increase since 2-3 years ago

Ok I get your point but that validity period the telcos place on data usage means you
can't enjoy your package/plan when not in use or their network is unavailable till it expires also doesnt make sense...

If I buy 5gb,give me unlimited time to use up my data before I buy another,nor dey tell me i have this time to that time to use my own data else it expires,that is cheating.....

Unlike DSTV, telecos have different packages for different duration. They have data that can serve u for a day, a week, a month, 3 months and even a year. Na u go buy the one wey u prefer.

DSTV has monthly subs u don't have control over when to use and when it is to expire.

I don't think so o, a lot of Nigerian's expect the network providers not to increase prices or even they do, keep it low, like around 10-15%. Maybe they forget these network providers are for-profit businesses.

I just hope the price increases means they restore full service, cause these days it takes grace for you to make a 3-minute call without it dropping multiple times.

This here is my worry. That this has become the status quo.

For the last 12 to 14 months quality of service has been complete shit. WhatsApp Calls will cut, freeze, hang. You will switch to phone call proper no difference. A complete mess

I think this is the way to go and other states can adopt same too. This kind of law will discourage and reduce all forms of ritual killings .

A lot of young people are under the impression that by cutting fellow human being's body parts they can get rich miraculously. I believe this law should address such level of reasoning that leads to increase in crime rates.

By the way, I hope they jail that guy that has been advertising Okeite on his social media pages while showing flashy cars . He should be the first person they will use to test the law

The one wey dey always funny me pass for this Lagos are those ones that use megaphone mounted on small cars to sell "ose anu" (Favour soap), Eyonu agba and and other soaps they claim attracts wealth. When u see the people selling it, they don't look like what they are selling even works for them. Yet people still buy them.

That's how to combat crime heads-on. Since the landlords and homeowners know they will be liable for whatever illicit activities that is carried out within their premises, they will be more vigilant and screen whoever they offer shelter very well
