If everyone had your mindset, the village will be still be littered with mud houses. Development in rural areas arises when people build whatever their income allows them. This development attracts other things such as good roads, electricity, good borehole water etc. I grew from seeing my village go from where people lived in rickety houses, depend solely on farming, wear ragged clothes to where people from other villages and states come to because of good housing, good road network, shops are seen all over the place, 70% of building materials are sold there, boutiques are seen, beautiful hotels, bars, restaurants and improved night life.

These are all things I couldn't have predicted because I remember clearly when some people walked barefooted.

Many properties back home have been abandoned in such manner. Lots of time they just ask one cousin or brother to keep the money and use it to settle small billings

Outside of Lagos and Abuja land does not really appreciate in value. And in most civil service states there is no real development. You will come to the same place 10 years later.
