Many properties back home have been abandoned in such manner. Lots of time they just ask one cousin or brother to keep the money and use it to settle small billings
I told him, na him work for his money, make he sell and enjoy his hardwork before he dies, His friends were telling him so you mean your children and grandkids wont have where to go as their fathers house

This my dad sef didnt live in his hometown after secondary school, I have only visited maybe 6 times in my life, last time being when I was passing through on my way for NYSC

Even if I am living in Nigeria, I might not even reach there. Place wey if I reach I will have to explain myself for almost 5mins before anyone recalls my name

It has to be condescending..

Cause the girl was stupid standing directly in the path of the door..

There was a door immediately after.

You shouldnt be obstructing movement because of a senseless video.

Gen Z have lost all their senses.

Those 1980 days ..

They no born you well to ask your ordinary ss3 senior "who does he think he is"...they go kill you for your mama

These girls no de get respect again and na men I blame
Baba, dey calm down o. Life no be war.

I'll have handled it differently if I were in his shoes by standing my ground in front of the student and told her in a firm and authoritative tone, "Excuse me young lady, you're obstructing my path" and the girl would have been so apologetic and be like "Oh I'm so sorry sir, I didn't see you coming" and scurried away. .. . ... and that would have been the end of it.

I don re-watch the video and it seems to me the lecturer stretched out his hand to touch her even before he reached her, and the way he said the "excuse me" suggests that it was calculated and intentional.

I dey the university system and I sabi this playbook wella.

Predatory lecturers dey use am establish contact, build familiarity and later "chyke" babes wey enter their eyes.

E get one wey happen to my friend. Him dey class dey teach and as his senior colleague dey waka pass, hin detour enter the class and picked out a babe wearing a top and a biker short for being "inappropriately" dressed and violating the dress code.

He sent her out and went on to give the class a pep talk about dressing etiquettes and all.

My friend later gist me say the lecturer straff the babe.

Those 1980 days you so glowingly refer to were days of terror and is partly responsible for the violent nature of many Nigerians because violence was normalized, accepted and used as a weapon of subjugation in schools.

Seniors oppressing juniors in schools, lecturers oppressing students in university. and it was extended to the larger society.

Na from those 1980 days e start.

Outside of Lagos and Abuja land does not really appreciate in value. And in most civil service states there is no real development. You will come to the same place 10 years later. Some nice houses but that's it.same dirt road, same shitty internet, same 400% price hike on shit that is sold in lagos traffic jams.
If I share some of the annoying text messages his tenants ill send to him owing house rents, Some will still be owing 2015 rents in 2018 and telling you about how civil servant salary have not been paid, or his wife delivered suddenly (as in suddenly after 9months pregnancy)

They will spend more time fighting on the phone for rents.

One tenant even told him that God has blessed him beyond asking them for rents of like 4yrs ago(So he should forgive that one)

You are just making excuses for his financial recklessness. I am sure nigga blew half of his earnings on women. If a rich man wants to build a house, they build something that matches their status.

And yes, Igbos don't joke with their Obi. A proof of a man's wealth is measured by how well his "father's" house was built. An Igbo adage says " If wealth gets home, they will know who made it."
Abeg speak for yourself bros.

Question for the house

Would you recommend an auditor going to work for an oil company (indigenous) for N500k or staying with a Financial Services company for N700k

The auditor in question already has experience in manufacturing and financial services sector and I'm inclined to think he should open up his options in the oil industry as the ceiling is much higher.

Annual or monthly salary bros?

Anyway, to answer your question, it all depends on the person and their personal end goal. Since this individual is based in Nigeria, I do agree with you that the oil industry would open more doors for them.

You must be an enemy of rural development or consider proponents of rural development foolish.
What U call rural development is waste of economic resources. It's not a wise decision to build a big house for millions of naira only to sleep there less than 30 days out of 365 days in a year.

IOCs na typically from entry level. That's my perspective. Experienced hire is very competitive.

What you actually see often people in contract roles in IOCs going for full time roles in indigenous.

Taking where I worked as an example - it was mainly entry level graduate trainees I saw do the transition to IOCs because they were still doing tests. It is actually the other way round. Indigenous looking for competent and experienced hired poaching from IOCs.

I just checked a new guy who has resumed in a banks technicial arm and the dude worked in total e & previously.

Amara dey beat Kanu? Annie pummels Tuface for making phone calls and you are here comparing apples and oranges.

I remember the goat calling for protest then and when his mom warned him like a child, he shelved his idea immediately and disappointed his supporters who were willing to join.

So I am not shocked that such man is his wife's personal punching bag and shouldn't be celebrated for just realizing that he has been a foolish man at the age of 50.
Lolz. 😂

U just keep making unsubstantiated claims about someone else's marriage based on Ur bias. Where did u come up with the claim " 2face is his wife's punching bag"?

For me, if you have the money, do it.

If I have 200 million I can splash on building a mansion in my village, I go do am oh.

After all, the people with mansions in villages also have it in towns.[/color]
I will rather build on land with verified title documents / buy building verified buildings with clean tittle & government approval in the city than wasting money building any mansion in any village.

Houses built in the village don't serve u more than few days in a year and u still have to be paying regular utility bills. It's not worth it at all.

What you are saying is that the village house is a boutique purchase. It is not a true object of value. This tracks because it seems the real purpose is to ascertain your position in the nwafor dick measuring Olympics. grin

If the person's goal is to make enough money and enjoy better terms of service, let him research about "other benefits" the oil company offers aside salary.

When I say "other benefits", I mean productivity bonus, profit sharing/dividend to staff, children educational benefits( for example they may peg Ur child's school fees as 500k annually and pay for ; 4 kids Irrespective of whether u have kids or not according to company policy . That's N2m cool cash) , security allowance, generator allowances, etc.

You see those aforementioned benefits? For some companies in the oil and gas sector, they trump whatever Ur actual salary looks on paper.

Another thing about oil companies is that they have a very strong union that are always dragging management and pushing for improved term of service. Unions like PENGASSEN no dey play at all with their members welfare and always engaging management for salary increment any time there is a change in economic situation in the country. Unions in ghe financial services are not as proactive as that.

There are other factors to consider Sha.
