But the people building mansions in the village have those buildings in the city?

Abi Obi Cubana be like who dey sleep for 2 bedroom flat?

If you have finished building your verified building in the city, and you have the money, go and add one mansion in your village please grin

Let the local artisans there too chop your money.
I will rather invest the money in other business enterprise that will fetch me passive income than build a house that will lay fallow for most part of the year.

If the idea is to build and gift it to a close family member, I can do that and hand off the property once if is gifted out. But building for myself and keeping it for there just for people passing by to marvel is not a wise decision in my own books o

What you are saying is that the village house is a boutique purchase. It is not a true object of value. This tracks because it seems the real purpose is to ascertain your position in the nwafor dick measuring Olympics. grin

Like a car I drive once a year to my school reunion so I can let my old classmates know I am hammering.
We have ascertained that building in cities have more economic value than villages

And I am saying those who built mansions in villages also have in the cities too...

Everybody should enjoy his money however he wants. If you have the money, spend am. When you die, the living too go help you spend am well well

Raumdeuter wey no go build house for village, just tear 2024 Range Rover. He should have used that money to buy 200 Corollas for Uber that will bring returns, in my opinion grin

Shebi na passive income? You go get am.

When the passive income makes you a billionaire, please throw a 100 million naira structure in your place, abeg.

Shebi your dads sister built before leaving Naija, Imagine someone who was building while abroad struggling an he only sleeps in his mansion 3 weeks maximum a year.

Most likely the kids wont have any desire to live in Naija, Maybe the man will come live there after retirement sha and when he dies, they will sell the house
And Now I just remembered how people building homes in Nigeria are ripped off by family they pay to do this.

Someone will use 20m to build house of 10m that he will likely eventually take over

Wetin pesin with full time career in obodo oyibo dey look for back in naija?

Unless you Wan do passport Egbon runs.

You didn't even add the best part. It's 10 women and he gets the pick 4 of his choice. They should make arrangement for 2face.

I really don't understand how this "take over" stuff works.

Who will take over your father's house in this present day Nigeria?

Na when Lagos state or Wike demolish your mansion for Lagos or Abuja, you go understand.

For me, if you have the money, do it.

If I have 200 million I can splash on building a mansion in my village, I go do am oh.

After all, the people with mansions in villages also have it in towns.
It's your opinion but it's a waste of money, in 2025, it will cost you nothing less than 80m to build a mansion.

200 million as net worth is too small to splurge 80m on a vanity project. I will rather invest half of the 200m as down payment for a property in the UK. My opinion though, to each his own.

The difference is he is likely driving the car, not hoarding it. I am online with a guy who just brought in a brand new Benz ev. The guy dey drive the car everywhere. He is not locking it away for 333 days of the year

The village mansion is a flex and it is the worst kind of flex because the place has no real value. It is not an asset you can use to raise money in an emergency. Not as if houses in villages are in demand for anything outside of the gold circle busters Olympics cheesy

Is everything about raising money to you?

The person pushing a Range Rover 2024, is it raising money for him?

Make una dey take am easy with this level of economic seriousness grin

The person who built a mansion in the village is not hungry, has investments here and there. If he buys a 700 million 2024 Land Cruiser, you will clap for him, but if he wastes that same money on a mansion in his village, it's an economic waste.

Outside of Lagos and Abuja land does not really appreciate in value. And in most civil service states there is no real development. You will come to the same place 10 years later. Some nice houses but that's it.same dirt road, same shitty internet, same 400% price hike on shit that is sold in lagos traffic jams.

If the person's goal is to make enough money and enjoy better terms of service, let him research about "other benefits" the oil company offers aside salary.

When I say "other benefits", I mean productivity bonus, profit sharing/dividend to staff, children educational benefits( for example they may leg Ur child's school fees as 500k annually and pay for ; 4 kids Irrespective of whether u have kids or not according to company policy . That's N2m cool cash) , security allowance, generator allowances, etc.

You see those aforementioned benefits? For some companies in the oil and gas sector, they trump whatever Ur actual salary looks on paper.

Another thing about oil companies is that they have a very strong union that are always dragging management and pushing for improved term of service. Unions like PENGASSEN no dey play at all with their members welfare and always engaging management for salary increment any time there is a change in economic situation in the country. Unions in ghe financial services are not as proactive as that.

There are other factors to consider Sha.
True true true

However indigenous oil companies have done all they can to kill union. No indigenous oil company built from scratch has union. Those that were acquired - they have done their best to kill union.

One time someone had the big idea to raise money by selling company assets

They drew up a list of stations across Nigeria.

Only stations located in lagos and Abuja had any significant numerical value. Because the land was located in prime Real Estate.

Go to most states and the land the station is on may be worth 400k.

If you have the means, build in your village. Everything shouldn't be about economic benefit, the social and cultural benefits shouldn't be neglected.

Indigenous companies and nepotism, toxic work culture, back-biting, being run like a sole proprietorship.

Also, I agree that IOCs are easier to penetrate as entry level. It is 100% super competitive to get in etc at the more experienced levels and even that still favors largely Engineers.
