Where are T-Pain's constituency projects promised to Nigerians before he was given the job of president almost two years ago?

Instead of crashing prices and making life better, the druggie has made everything worse that clueless Buhari.

Deltafirstson:
Although the pump price of fuel was N197 when President Bola Tinubu took over on May 29, 2023, the product now sells for N617 per litre – less than two months after.

In his inaugural address, Tinubu announced that subsidy was gone, fulfilling a promise that all leading presidential candidates made during the campaign.

However, pump price of fuel hit N537 per litre days after Tinubu ended subsidy.

On Tuesday, the price climbed further to N617, a development that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) attributed to “market forces”.

Nigerians have been lamenting the hardship occasioned by fuel price hike. Amid the lamentation, a video where Tinubu campaigned to slash the price of fuel went into circulation.

Checks by Daily Trust affirmed the authenticity of the video uploaded on the YouTube page of Channels Television.

At his campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on January 25, 2023, Tinubu spoke on a number of issues, but those of fuel scarcity and naira redesign made the headlines.

However, Tinubu who spoke in Yoruba language, also assured the crowd that though people were saying petrol price would hit N200, it would be reviewed downward under him.

“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200 per litre. Go and relax, we will bring it down,” he had said in the 7th minute of the video.

King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, a Fuji musician who performed at the rally, interrupted the president’s speech with chants as the crowd cheered.

On the campaign podium with the president were Vice-President Kashim Shettima; Pa Bisi Akande, interim National Chairman of the APC; Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President; Senator Gbenga Daniel; among other bigwigs of the ruling party.

Tinubu went further to say Nigerians would defy the acute fuel scarcity at the time and trek to cast their votes.

“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200/N500 per litre. Go and relax, we will crash the prices,” he had said.

Best decision so far. The same wait OBJ, Jonathan, Yaradua, Buhari all waited
How did Jonathan wait when he deregulated the sector a few months after his election, only for Fayemi and APC to use Pastor Tunde Bakare, who was Buhari's running mate in the election to play politics with our economic wellbeing.

T-Pain's subsidy removal, like that of Buhari in 2016 is a failure because it is badly thought out and poorly executed without a complete deregulation of the sector like PDP did for the telecom sector over two decades ago.

Do you think that Fayemi's apology is enough for the suffering we have endured from APC playing politics to ruin our lives huh

Racoon:
A former Governor of Ekiti State, John Fayemi, has apologised to the Nigerian people over the failures of the All Progressives Congress, APC, over the years.

Fayemi, the immediate past governor of Ekiti state said the APC has not done enough and has not been able to achieve “everything we promised” the nation.

The APC chieftain, who briefly served as a minister under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, stated this on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday.

According to him, those who see themselves in leadership positions, such as himself, should do better to move the country to a better place.

“Oh, clearly, we all have reasons…we must apologize to the Nigerian people. We have not succeeded in achieving everything we promised to the Nigerian people.

“And that’s not just because we were incompetent,
but because there were other structural impediments that have made things more difficult for us

“But clearly we haven’t done enough to make life abundant for the Nigerian people, and for that, I clearly would not hesitate to apologize for that. We can do a lot more…”

The All Progressives Congress came into power in 2015 with ex-President Buhari defeating the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, government led by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Many Nigerians believe that things have changed for the worse for them since the almost 10 years of the APC administration. Buhari handed over to his party man and former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu in May 2023.

Tinubu removed fuel subsidy on the very day of his swearing in, an action that ultimately worsened the situation in the country, throwing millions of Nigerians into abject poverty.

World Bank offers Nigeria forex rate advice, as Tinubu eyes N200/Dollar rate[

April 23, 2023

The President-elect said he would work with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to *bring down the exchange rate to N200 in his first term.*

“My administration will collaborate with the Central Bank to harmonize the fiscal and monetary policy to achieve immediate stabilization of the value of the naira against the US dollars and other currencies and in the short term, strengthen the naira by boosting the supply of foreign currency and moderating demand.

“The short-term goal is to achieve a naira/dollar rate of 300 naira/US$ and gradually achieve a less than 200 naira rate over the next four years, Tinubu stated.

Why focus on the governors when the former Lagos governor who is now president is simply replicating what he did in Lagos for the whole country- increase taxes to loot and share with your cronies for political relevance while the citizens get palliative handouts to reduce their anger from impoverishment huh

chisomkachy:
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s first supplementary budget includes a fleet of SUVs for himself and his wife, a presidential yacht and the renovation of his villa amid a cost-of-living crisis for some of the poorest people in the world.

The proposal — which seeks additional funding beyond the annual budget approved by Tinubu’s predecessor — comes as the government asks Nigerians to persevere through pain caused in part by a raft of economic reforms ushered in by the new president. Africa’s most populous country faces rampant unemployment, soaring food prices and a plummeting currency.

Federal lawmakers approved the president’s request for extra spending on Thursday, but eliminated the provision of 5 billion naira ($6.01 million) to buy a presidential yacht. Instead, they doubled the allocation to a student loan fund to 10 billion naira, according Abubakar Bichi, chairman of an appropriations committee in the House of Representatives.

The lawmakers approved 1.5 billion-naira proposed to purchase SUVs for the office of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu — an amount larger than that allocated to many individual federal colleges. The supplementary budget also proposes almost 6 billion naira to purchase SUVs for the presidency — more than the amount initially allocated to fund a student loan program for poor families.

A spokesman said the president didn’t ask for a yacht and criticized coverage of the budget. The “public attack” is because of the “very simplistic way some of the line items are described by civil servants, who prepare the budget,” Temitope Ajayi said in a column posted to a local media outlet. New vehicles, he said, will be used by aides and civil servants, not Tinubu himself.

The legislature has also been slammed for buying hundreds of its own expensive SUVs.

Tinubu, who took office in May, ended a popular but costly fuel subsidy and removed currency restrictions that saw prices spike and the naira sharply devalued. That’s left many households struggling to survive in Africa’s most populous nation, where at least 40% of its more than 200 million people live in extreme poverty.

Last year, the country spent about 96% of its revenue servicing debt and the government plans to raise 9 trillion naira to help fund next year’s budget.

If the bill has passed the second reading as you claimed, why didn't they pass the Yoruba tax bill since September? The bill was suspended by the almighty Northern law makers in the House of Reps. The process of passing the bill was not even allowed to commence.

Tinubu wanted to use Akpabio to quickly pass the bill. But the North no gree. Now your Yoruba tax bill has been suspended. Adjustments are currently taking place to favour the almighty North. All those clauses Tinubu smuggled into the bil, to enable it favour Lagos and only Yoruba People have since been removed. grin
Pass it since September?, If I call you Illiterate now, you'd run to the moderators. Do you know how a bill is passed?..Because some parasites raised some concerns means the bill was suspended?. The parasites were asking the bills to be withdrawn, has it been withdrawn?, do you think you're dealing with GEJ?. Like I said, when the budget is passed, the next bill the Senate will pass is the tax bill. Then, tell us which clauses were removed?, because we know that you only wait for your leaders before you think. Tell us the clauses?.

Why did Akpabio quickly allow the bill scale through 2nd reading the same day it was introduced? He wanted to hurriedly pass the Yoruba tax bill through the backdoor. But the North saw the game and quickly suspend the useless bill.

It is 5 months now and this same Tinubu's Yoruba tax bill has not been passed. grin
