The main issue is "a person may be wise but, people are stupid." Irete is a landlocked community. Where are the herdsmen going to go through to attack only Irete? Someone had raised this same scare one late night about or over a decade ago when I was living around there and some people were even panicking and running to their friends house as at midnight while normal people were sleeping soundly.
