Three House of Assembly members elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kaduna State have defected along with their supporters, to the All Progressives Congress.

The three lawmakers are Henry Mara ( Jaba Constituency), Emmanuel Kantiok (Zonkwa Constituency), and Samuel Kambai (Zango constituency).

They announced their defection on Thursday at their various wards.

The three lawmakers disclosed to PUNCH Online in separate telephone interviews that their defection was to align with the party at the state level because of the sterling leadership and performance exhibited by Governor Uba Sani.

Their defection comes just two days after the lawmaker representing Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Amos Magaji, also defected to the APC.

The lawmakers stated that the political future of their constituents was sacrosanct and they believed that they would serve their people better in the ruling party.

Mara declared that the PDP’s dominance in Southern Kaduna has “rapidly crumbled.”

“A major realignment in the power structure of the etate House of Assembly is looming as we’re expecting more opposition to dump the PDP for APC,” Mara stated.

Kambai observed that the achievements of the state governor have erased animosity towards the ruling party and effectively ‘killed’ the opposition parties in the state.

” Governor Uba Sani’s commendable achievements within two years are attributable to the decline in opposition parties.

“Southern Kaduna has been a stronghold of the opposition PDP since 1999 but today, that jinx has been altered by Governor Uba Sani’s credible leadership,” he said.

Kantiok explained that the state faced escalating insecurity in the past eight years, but there is relative peace and he promised to consolidate Sani’s existing performance.

You just have to respect Tinubu as a Political juggernaut. The way he attracts the opposition is definitely worth studying.

Opposition parties are fighting the wrong battle, they are not ready to take power from APC. By the end of 2026, it'd be clear that APC would win again in 2027.

Is the igbos who are now emergency lover of El rufai they called all manners of name. Most Northern Christians will vote Tinubu than Atiku who will be his main challenger in 2027. Only the peace that has been restored in southern kaduna is a big plus to governor Uba Sani and Tinubu. Those people will be the pawn in the chess game. They should continue their nzogbu nzogbu politics.

According to them, anybody that decamped to Apc is hunger driven but not like that when they decamped to Pdp and labour. Lawmakers with fat allowances and that clown, is saying they are hungry. How do people define hunger.

After 2027 election, El rufai will be politically irrelevant. Good eight years, he couldn't solve the crisis in southern kaduna and his successor within a year solved it. It shows he was either the artichect or promoter of the crisis.
