FG Approves Kashimbila Cargo/agro-allied Airport Concessioning, Targets 4.1trn by zero8zero(op): 9:03am On Feb 15, 2025
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the concession of the Kashimbila Integrated Cargo/Agro-Allied Airport in Taraba, under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

A statement issued in Abuja on Friday by Ifeanyi Nwoko, Acting Head, Media and Publicity, Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), said that the projects were approved under the regulatory guidance of the ICRC.

The statement said the project cuts across agriculture, water resources and aviation sectors.

It said that on one hand, it featured the upgrade of an airstrip in Kashimbilla to a Cargo/Agro-Allied Airport.

“On the other hand, it has a combination of no fewer than 3,000 hectares of farmland, fish farming facilities and a ranch for livestock farming.”

The statement quoted Jobson Ewalefoh, Director-General (D-G), ICRC, as commending President Bola Tinubu for quickly approving the project whose facilities are expected to enhance Nigeria’s agricultural export potential.

“The processes for this project were started and completed in six months, in fulfilment of the charge given to me by President Tinubu to accelerate PPP projects’ procurement.

“The Kashimbila project includes the concession of over 3,000 hectares of farmland for irrigation farming and the upgrade of the airport for agro-cargo services.

“It also includes the development of an aerotropolis and Free Trade Zone with business parks, logistics hubs and residential areas.”

The D-G said the project located in Taraba, aimed to enhance agricultural logistics, improve market access and stimulate economic development.

Mr Ewalefoh said that the concession would among other things, boost agricultural productivity by enabling year-round irrigation farming and create employment opportunities.

He said that the concession would also attract investment in agribusiness and stimulate local and national economies through trade and exports.

Mr Ewalefoh said that with the Kashimbilla project, regional integration would be enhanced as Taraba would be connected to the national and international markets, facilitating trade, as thousands of direct and indirect jobs would be created.

He said that the project was expected to generate N4.1 trillion in revenue from multiple sources during the concession period.

The D-G thanked the relevant ministries for their efforts in ensuring the success of the inter-agency collaboration to achieve the renewed hope agenda of President Tinubu.

One useless project after the other. I wonder how they will break even when what is being flown across borders can be transported at a much cheaper rate with heavy duty trucks.

Projects every where.

Imagine if this continues for another 6 years.

Yet some people want a change in 2027 so that a new President with a completely different agenda will abandon all these fantastic projects and set us back another 10 - 20 years.

You want a new President because the price of garri was cheaper under Mr Jonathan and Yaradua huh

As if the price of any product sold in the USA, UK, Germany or any country in the world has remained the same in the past 5 years.

Another White elephant project by the occultist BAT.

Nigerians, you will walk on coastal road only in your fever dreams.

And fly your cargo to kashimbilla only in your hunger induced hallucinations.

The party of swindlers and thieves will teach your generations to come, how it's done. its chief swindler and its chief thief will mesmerize you with projects from the land beyond beyond( y'all will understand the meaning of Infinity ♾️)

if you are praying, is it not obvious that you are not even sure of the project coming to fruition?

if tinubu is capable, do you need to pray for him to do his job?

is it the people that dont want tinubu to succeed that are responsible for him not succeeding?

Do your homework before commenting. Perishable goods are usually exported by air, not by road, rail or sea. The cost of transported is included in the price of the goods.

Imagine if this continues for another 6 years.

Yet some people want a change in 2027 so that a new President with a completely different agenda will abandon all these fantastic projects and set us back another 10 - 20 years.

All because the price of garri was cheaper under Mr Jonathan and Yaradua.

As if the price of any product sold in the USA, UK, Germany or any country in the world has remained the same in the past 5 years.
That is exactly what happened after OBASANJO left in 2007.

The fear is there this time around. No government takes over power under a depressed economy with country almost going into bankruptcy as it was when Tinubu came in May 29, 2023 and suddenly start talking about developmental projects. This is the first time in Africa. It takes a government at least 15 months before any meaningful developmental projects.

From less than one year we started seeing regions complaining of being marginalized or sidelined in the awards of projects. What surprises me is that all the projects they complained about have been there for years and some even abandoned for decades. Why are they now bringing them out? Is Nigeria sleeping before?

We have not seen anything. By the time the Regional Development Commission start their works we are going to see real potentials of Nigeria. All the abandoned developmental projects would be brought up for discussion.
