Omor.... Normally I used to doubt all this relatives poisoning other relatives narrative but mehn

But if a stranger can show so much hate to the point asking someone to write their name on their car and snap

Or send them your employment details just because they can't accept you've made it in life
The black man is evil. That’s why Africa is the way it is.

Based on an ongoing experience from my dear friend in Canada, this advice is extremely important. If you are coming to the abroad and wish to remain aka get a job, especially a good job, begin your job hunting immediately after you arrive. I will make a much longer post in my diary, but in a summary:

- If your postgraduate study is for a year, commence the job hunt before you enter the country.
- If your postgraduate study is for two years or more, begin the job hunt the day after you arrive the country.
you can start your job hunting after you arrive, because you also need a good job to stay afloat

The person I referenced had full funding. I know two others who couldn't get jobs because they neglected to learn Japanese and started job hunting very late. These persons were also fully funded. Na so so flexing dem do - Tokyo today, Hokkaido tomorrow. As I write, I no know wetin dem dey do. But I know that learning this language while in an uncomfortable livelihood is very hard.

Year don start and recruiters no wan let person rest. Job Dey o na you no wan japa. Even upon say I hide my LinkedIn they still Dey find me 😂😂

Another big advice I will give to Nigerian youths as you are learning anything you are learning if you can and you have the time to do so, please learn a second European language. I would recommend Spanish first and then maybe German and maybe French last. Spanish because even though Spain is doing badly, a lot of Spanish speaking countries are actually very good to live in. Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico. If you migrate to these countries as a Nigerian with tech skills you will definitely make it except your village people are on your matter. German is also okay but getting a German visa from Nigeria is very hard. French is the last language I will recommend for anyone to learn since majority of French speaking countries are poor African countries but if you can learn French, it makes it much easier to get Canadian permanent residency at least at this moment. Might not be so in the future. Aside European languages, maybe an Asian language like Chinese, Japanese or Korean. Having two languages and tech skills completely eliminates most of your competition for jobs anywhere in the world especially if your first language is English
Wow. This is good to see. I have been learning Spanish as a hobby and can speak and understand at morderate speed. Chilena accent can be particularly challenging though. How are you coping? Lol.
Anyway, I've been skeptical about the tech industry considering the way AI is going.
What skills do you think are worth learning within the next 2 years?

Great thread. Thanks.

I speak Spanish with a Chilean accent. Infact it was very instrumentable to me getting my bank job as my boss said she thought I was Chilean cause of the way I speak. She was surprised. I have friends from other Latin American countries and they have all said that my Spanish is very very Chilean . I don’t really advise anyone on skills to learn again.

This is very commendable.

Learning is enough trouble, speaking like a native is like mission impossible.

Well, you've been there for a while now so I guess you would have blended in perfectly.
I may contact you later if I need someone to practise that accent with if you don't mind.

I don’t really advise anyone on skills to learn again.

You must have been a very low quality man in Nigeria, that no Nigerian lady found you worthwhile to buy gifts for. Besides, isn't that a 2$ tshirt that you are celebrating as a val gift? And you aren't even proud to at least show us the body of the person buying U the gift?

Anyway, just a gentle reminder that you haven't given us a new Lamba for the weekend 😂😂😂🤣

I will still tell people to learn to code but the area they should go and do their research. There’s internet, there’s LinkedIn, there’s ChatGPT. Things are way easier now

It has always been competitive. Even in 2020, I heard the same thing. That it’s saturated it’s this it’s that. It has never been easy.

Even though it’s a village you can find absolutely everything you have in the city here. Public transportation, good roads, good internet network and running water everywhere

How time flies. I can’t believe it’s almost 2 years. In that 2 years while still studying I have gone from delivering food through uber eats to working in the biggest bank in the country. Buying my own car brand new. God is great.
You must be one of the luckiest immigrant in Chile to accomplish all these within 2 years in a country where the minimum wage is less than $600 per month. I think you have a job that really pays well.

Even in the so-called A-list countries like the USA, Canada, the UK, Germany, and some of the European countries, it's almost impossible to achieve this in just 2 years.

Go Chile
