Hello guys. I am facing a major conundrum. A friend of mine lost his job and is really in need of my help. I have a Toyota Highlander 2005 SUV in my garage I only use to travel to my state on festive seasons. My friend wants to use it for Bolt/Uber. I told him it’s a V6 vehicle and he’s still insisting that he would make profit if he drives especially at nights. Please is this true? We both live in Lagos. The car is fitted with a 3.3 liter V6 engine.
Should I go on and give it out? If yes, how much am I suppose to get back in monthly returns from him?
Please guys help me out.

Firstly, he's your friend, so only you know if you can actually sacrifice this for him or not.

Secondly, that vehicle is not a good tool for this hustle. Not good because of

1) Fuel consumption.
2) Rising cost of parts. I remember changing the steering rack of that car one time, and it isn't cheap.

And him being a newbie, he will struggle a lot.

You seem like someone who wants to help. I advise that you give him for 2 weeks for free, but he must handle all repairs and maintenance. After two weeks, you guys should sit down and evaluate if he can do it or not.

Listen to this bro. Walai, trouble go come, no be curse, na life! If you have a job link, you can give him; even if it's good cash(not loan) to start up something small, it's better. Except you wan dash am the jeep or not collect anything after the 2 weeks testing.....but your car won't be the same again! Else, you guys might eventually be enemies.

Rides are really cheap now apart from valentine. He won't meet up with v6 and night work is dangerous(let alone, a newbie)

Hey guys. I was having a good today, Comfort category on Bolt doing well until I was coming back from Airport. Fiam, in the middle of 3rd mainland Bridge, my car went off.

Scanned it immediately,: camshaft sensors issue came on. I pushed it for a while before a guy came to join. We agreed to 3k, only for the guy to get to a part of the pushing and decided to stop, asking for his money.

Í sha beg am make ẹ no vex. He raised the money to 5k. Las Las we pushed am go Road Safety side at SURA..

No good mech on the ground. Called my home based mech, he suggested I check the timing chain. The mech dey say he wan lose all sorts of things. When I told my own mech, he said he would come tomorrow.

I just had to leave the car at their workshop. I pray it's in complete shape when I get there tomorrow.
At last, my biggest fear on LAGOS road, having my car faulty on 3rd mainland Bridge, happened!

Palava of a Bolt driver in Lasgidi!

Uber drivers, Una good morning.

Do you prefer your customer (when alone) sitting at the back or the front?

I've had two occasions where one driver was like, Assuming I was sitting in front the AC would be touching me, I knew he was sending a message.

And also when I tried to sit in front with another driver, He was looking at me suspiciously as if I was a suspect. Lol

So, what's the standard or which do you prefer? Thanks

From your explanation.. you have your answer already I guess.. the answer is subjective and based on individual preferences.. but then the key decision lies with you .. sit where you feel more comfortable and safe..

I will pay for using their workshop. It may be cheaper than towing to my mech. Besides, towing might damage my bumper too

You can go to the mechanic workshops under the bridge, ask someone to direct you to AO15 or AMERICAN CAR, when you get there ask for OGA LATI or EGIN. Oga Lati has been our mechanic for years.

E be like say na me carry you for one hot afternoon. I told the person I was feeling it very well in front and if she wants to feel it too, she should come to the front.

For me, I prefer front. Sit in front and use your belt. You will enjoin the ride.

why will a driver have preference to where his passenger will sit, except if at midnight, I may want a male rider sit beside me, but during day time, you can sit anywhere you want...

even if you want to sit untop of the car, you're free so far you will let me have a video recording of you making that request grin

Airport pick-up would be the most suitable option. Inter-state travel is also manageable, but he will struggle with to make ends meet beyond these two choices.

E surprised me, too.
The only thing I know about timing chain is jumping and slacking.
Or maybe when it jumped teeth, it shifted off the camshaft/crankshaft and had contact with other running components and got broken?

@Davit, did you see the broken chain physically?
Cos make I no lie, me self dey confuse about the broken T-chain.

Much respect, boss.
