Hey everyone! I was admitted for the Winter 2024 session and deferred to Summer 2025. However, since I still haven’t received a visa appointment, I canceled my admission. Despite this, I had already enrolled for the Summer 2025 session and received my login credentials. I have now reapplied for Winter 2025, but based on my previous admission timeline, I expect the admission letter to be released in August.

Do you think I should explain this with proof in my rescheduling email?
You need all the proof you need to get rescheduled. You guys seem to be asking these questions to get validation. If you want to reschedule, send all the proof possible. It is as simple as that

But since my sponsor (dad) has a German bank account can’t I just use that ?
No you can't. The visa is attached to you, not your dad. There are only 3 ways to get your proof of livelihood. A block account in your name which you'll only have access to 992 monthly or a sponsor can issue you a Declaration of Commitment “Verpflichtungserklärung”, also called a sponsorship letter. The last is a full-time scholarship that covers that 992 monthly.

If your dad has a valid residence permit and is eligible, let him issue you the second option. He should set up an appointment at the Ausländerbehörde of his city. They'll ask for his recent 3 months payslip, house contract, and passport. Then they'll check if his salary is enough to sponsor you. It's that simple. So reach out to him

There are two categories:

1. Skilled worker: If your degree is H+ on Anabin, and your degree is also on Anabin, all you need is your block account of 13092 euros of SL, and you'll get your Visa. No need for a language test. If it's not, you need to do ZAB. It cost 208 euros and takes 3 months

2. Unskilled workers: These are people whose Universities are not H+, their degree course is not certified, or have HND or vocational training. If you fall here, you need the language certificate of IELTS B1 or A1 German. You also need to get six points from the point system.

It's the status of recognition of the University.
H+: Fully recognised
H+/-: Partially recognised (not all degrees from the University are recognised)
H-: Unrecognised, no degrees from the University are recognised

i need an advise on something. so i am a medical doctor and my degree is recognized in the anabin database. should i just apply through opportunity card or just wait for when i get appointment date for study visa appointment. I really want to do a masters but at the same time since everything is fast paced. idk which route to take.

You can't use the same SL for both. The reason for your visa has to be stated. For block accounts, the amount is also not the same. Note that medical doctors need to write certain exams in Germany, and you can't practice without C1 German. So weigh your options and decide on one

Please I have some questions. First, I graduated with a First class degree from a private university in Ghana, am I qualified for category A Booking appointment? Second, do I need to do authentication and legalization of my documents to get admission and visa?

Thank you.

Hi everyone,

I'm not here to cause any trouble, but I wanted to share some information that might be helpful for those dealing with the stress of sending certified copies of transcripts. If this isn't relevant to you, feel free to skip ahead—someone else might find it useful.

In Germany, graduating students receive their 'Transcript of Records' once, and that’s it. They face the opposite challenge: when applying to US schools that demand official transcripts sealed and stamped from their German schools, they have to figure out how to send those 'official' copies from Germany.

In Nigeria, universities typically insist on sending official transcripts directly to the schools you're applying to upon request. This creates a lot of stress for Nigerian applicants who need to meet the requirement for certified copies. Many try to get their school to send the transcript to someone or an institution first so they can handle it and fulfill the requirements. However, I recently discovered that this isn't necessary—sending the original directly is perfectly acceptable.

If you have any doubts, call your university's student administration office to confirm this. I've tried both methods: I explained the application requirements to my Nigerian university during my first application, and they released the official transcript to me (my mum received it on my behalf since I wasn't in Nigeria). Later, through my research (asking the people I mentioned earlier), I learned that schools usually destroy the documents they receive, which is why they ask for certified copies. They expect you to have one original, which you wouldn't want to lose. Certified copies carry the same value as the original by law, but you can have many certified copies compared to one original. However, if you send the original documents, it’s not an issue—just know they won’t be returned.

For my next application, I had my Nigerian school send the transcript directly to the German address, and it was recorded as received and accepted. I eventually got the admission. I wanted to share this breakdown for anyone struggling to intercept their transcript because they believe they NEED to get a certified copy. If you’re hesitant, you can continue with your current method, but living in Germany has taught me that asking questions can reveal smoother alternatives.

Lastly, I want to say that if something is complicated for you, always speak up and demand a solution instead of trying to put up with it.

Till next time.

You apply through the consular services Portal, the old appointment system is gone. They will determine with your documents wether you qualify for Category A or not. You also need to check on anabin if the University you graduated from is recognised.

Should someone who registered for Opportunity Card using the old link a day before the portal was introduced still do same on the new portal? Or just wait?

Everyone was sent a link to go and create an account on the new digital platform. The old booking has been canceled. It's more of a first come first served process. if your documents are complete, you send them for preliminary review and it's checked within a week. If all is well, you'll get a link to book an appointment. You get your Visa in 20 days. It's straight forward

There's one inside bonny camp(The army barracks). It's a walking distance from the embassy. You have to book early because it's hardly free of reservations
