It's a good thing. I also teach grade 10 and 11 Mathematics to students in Canada and I don't even use Zoom. I use the video feature of WhatsApp call. However, you need to be familiar with their syllabus because some areas are slightly different from our syllabus in Nigeria. But overall, it's all fun!
How much do you charge?

Nigerians offering lessons online... Don't charge anything less than 50-60 pounds an hour.

Don't be cheap labour for people who japa'd but now want extra lessons for their kids that they took there for a better future.

Don't you want a better future too??
You are mad. how much is monthly wages in UK and USA that you expect people abroad to pay someone in Nigeria 60 pounds. how much do u earn ?

Oyibo kids can't solve elementary maths that Nigerian kids are so perfect in solving?

How come oyibo kids grow up and become the inventors of every scientific and technological products we consume in Nigeria?
the geniuses amongst them will do that. Those people are not up to 0.1% of the population. In many cases indian and Chinese immigrants who undergo extra lessons in their community top their classes and represent USA for example in international competitions

Below is the USA team in a maths competition in 2019. Only one white the rest Asians.

In Nigeria we are good at theory but no enabling environment or funding to practically use them.

only for Igbo language would i engage a teacher living in nigeria.

dont birth children if you cant afford their education wherever you reside.

Imagine letting a Nigerian teach my children useless cut-and-join Nigerian English undecided
I feel sorry for you if you believe that speaking English is the definition of education because that is simply not true. Countries like China, Japan, Korea, and even India are making remarkable advancements in technology, yet many of their people are not fluent in English.

I am an online tutor, and I teach UK-based students. With my assistance, they often perform better than their classmates. In fact, after reviewing their syllabus, I noticed that students in our country tackle more complex work than theirs.

Next time, do your research before making uninformed statements online.

The truth is our standard of education in Nigeria is higher, especially here in US. And they have this "don't disciple someone else's child" mentality, even if he/she is doing poorly. Their standard of "so long as a student does not fall below a certain level", what we often call "oriyomi" is what they use, especially in elementary education.

They also have a minimum age where they allow kids to start school. In the US it is 5 years old. Kids in Nigeria start going to school even as early as 2.

Money for zoom data alone na die

Well. Laslas. Our teachers will use technology to impact knowledge.

Hope d pay is sweet oo. Make dem no come dey use 100k for data and then pay tutors 15k per month ooo
I am planning something similar for my baby sis 13yes old, arts student. Someone who could teach or mentor her on all subjects. Five days a week, 5 hours a day 400k naira a month as salary and 60k monthly allowance for data and energy For us it is cheaper but for the tutor in Nigeria it is also a lot of money, sitting in the comfort of your room and making money, long term plan.

Try it and see yourself in Jail
That's if your own Nigerian culture is about brutality and child engagement.

Discipline isn't about that... It might involve consequences for bad behaviour, but never one that harms the child (for example leaving marks or making them bleed).

You can punish your child, and even in England some certain level of smacking is allowed (as long as it doesn't leave a mark, bruise the child).

You are allowed to discipline your child.

Why are you bitter? I'm speaking from experience and not out of ignorance. Try to be smarter than the smart phone you are using to type. Google is your friend!

When I lived in the UK, 2016... A private tutor was charging £45. This is 2025.
2. What does the monthly wage have to do with anything? If you want a private tutor, you have to pay for it. Since you asked, minimum wage is about £10-11 an hour. Do the maths (if you can)
3. How much do I earn? Let's see... I take a local allowance of 375,000 naira monthly. My salary is dollar-denominated and on a quarterly basis $13,500 which is $4,500 a month. Don't know what you needed this info for but there you go

Well, I know several Nigerians abroad who come to Nigeria for medical treatment. I know a woman who teaches home teaching some of her students Japa and they continued the lessons online. As I speak she too Japa with her son after telling her husband it is 2 weeks they are going.

How can you have an extra lesson of 5 hours a day, is that not too much.

Or the child won't be going to school at all?

My argument never suggested that ability to speak good English translates to intelligence.

Try to read well and understand the context before rushing to quote someone.

If you're hungry, go and buy bread. Calm down before commenting

All these immigrants you mentioned surely are schooled using oyibo curriculum. That shows oyibo style of teaching is effective.

Btw you're deviating from our original argument.

the Chinese and other asians have extra lessons like the ones these Nigerians want to start doing .

Oyinbo education is effective but there is room for edge. That edge ensures that your kids bag the available scholarships and survive hard course like engineering/ medicine in future

It's good. The teachers in Nigeria use Nigeria accent that's easily understood by the kids.

In my master days, The first 4 weeks was used to adapt to my lecturers accent
