The police and her sister partner EFCC are very guilty of this. You wonder if they have any iota of sense , education or intelligence . You have not finished investigating or successfully prosecuting people , you start doing display of alleged criminals destroying the reputations of the innocent ones . Maybe it is just eye-service to show they are working . The only way we can know they are working is highly decreased insecurity , not some photo ops !

If anything , God bless the AGF for this .

As it is said, you are innocent unless declared otherwise by the courts. When a suspect is paraded, if he is then acquitted by court what happens to his damaged reputation, his malinged image, the stigma?
Parading a suspect along with the usual interview by the press also creates avenue for the suspect recant any confessional statements made as it butresses claims of statements made under duress.

Injecting sanity into the Police organisation is essential.

There is something wrong because it is wrong to parade someone who has not been convicted of any crime
Re: FG Orders Nigeria Police Force To Stop Parading Suspects by Rating(m): 8:58am On Feb 18, 2025
Falana also pointed out the discriminatory nature of the practice, stating that while low-income individuals accused of minor theft are paraded, high-profile suspects involved in massive corruption scandals are never subjected to such treatment.
Very good point.

“The reputational harm from these parades is irreversible. Many suspects are later acquitted, but the public never forgets the initial humiliation,” he said.
Very true.

But in Nigeria where the rule of law is very dicey, it can become very suspicious where even convicted felons are silently released or more.

Hypocrite lawyers. What is Falana and Mike waiting for all this while? Have they just discovered it was in the constitution?
Bunch of cowards and hypocrites.
What were you waiting for all this while? Or don't you and the Nigerian Police know the law that suspects must be presumed innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law?

Good.
Lots of reforms ongoing.
Make investigations and be sure of your facts before arrest.

Avoid this username Graceglory that sells fake WhatsApp crypto signals for $50.
You will loose all your money

Ask him if he created a WhatsApp group for crypto signals and charged $50.

Yes or no
Dont fall for that. Some of the criminals work for the so called big men. They want such cases covered to avoid public outcry. Timi would be a free man if he was not publicly paraded because he sure has backings

No sir, parading suspects in public is crude and incongruous to say the least. More so, it damages the prospect of a proper investigation, fair hearing, prosecution and securing conviction.

Everything is wrong with it. Crime shouldn't be a reason to strip a suspect of his/her dignity. Mind you, by law, the person is still a suspect.

Misplaced priorities. Even in the United States, the mugshots of criminals are released to the public. Also, public parades of criminals could serve as a deterrent, discouraging misguided individuals from engaging in criminal activities. Therefore, I fully support the police policy of publicly parading criminals, and I hope the Federal Government will reintroduce public executions of criminals, as was done in the 1980s and 1990s.
Report says "suspect".

Your reason for supporting the public parade of suspects is defeated already, by citing the US practice of releasing mugshots.

A mugshot is different from parading suspects.

In their own favour...

The FG knows that in soonest time, many politicians & government officials would be arrested for crimes...

So, the country won't be able to see the eyes of the thieving politicians....

Mad people...

Some suspects have been able to prove their innocence, were they 'unparaded'?
The day they will show you on channels television for something you didn't do that day you will understand

Nobody is guilty until declared guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
Even if caught red handed .

So if someone is caught red-handed severing the head of your kid sister, he shouldn't be paraded because he is still a suspect?
Re: FG Orders Nigeria Police Force To Stop Parading Suspects by abdabass: 10:05am On Feb 18, 2025
That will be too bad.
Most of the paraded once (cases), the public did not have knowledge of the end results not to talk of when none is made known to the public, they will simply bury it, (dead on arrival).
