If It’s not an indication of huge improvement in the power supply, why have the Punch Newspapers not put other items, such as office furniture, official vehicles, office buildings, printing machines, etc, up for sale.
Truth be told, even in Ikeja, where I live, the use of generators is fast becoming a distant memory. I cannot recollect the last time I heard the sound of generators, except during the period of National grid’s collapse.

The price of fuel itself has reduced the use of Gen and cars especially among the lower to middle class.

For upgrade purpose I guess

punch is simply executing an open auction, rather than allowing in house people to execute

the sale of the generator can be for multiple reasons

they have bought a new generator
they have transitioned to solar power
their load requirement has dropped
there is now significantly improved power in their location
