Comment by bobdemp8691 10 days ago Unfortunately, society doesn't run on a voluntary sign up to ethics. It relies on rules and regulations. Why is there a huge spend on policing, armed forces needed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pTQMdbKOTw |

Regulating software development is quickly needed as the low barrier to entry has allowed mafias to take over the software development sector. Regulation will make sure that only those with a degree in computer science, software engineering or computer engineering are allowed to develop software for commercial use based on their level of expertise and they must also belong to a professional body like the BCS for CPD. |

Many will lose their job if this happens. Most top developers don't have degrees in computer science or engineering even In top corporations. The problem is that the bodies or FED will put a backdoor in most applications serving as way to control it remotely intensionally . The most safest operating system is Mac and iOS it will take even security agencies forever to hack especially when you don't log your socials in a browser. I am not against regulation but software bug sometimes are features to monitor people. MindHacker9009: |

The self taught will need to take a professional course like the BCS to keep their jobs. Software development is like building a house where there is a need for a qualified: Architect, quantity surveyor, structural engineer, brick layer, carpenter, plumber, electrician and painter. Each one of them doing what they are qualified and trained to do. But in software development that is not the case. All the self taught I have met on a project have not been able to code complex logic and they would rather let the project be scraped then allow a person qualified and skilled to handle the project as the self taught becomes insecure and aggressive and because these self taught are mafias they are well protected by their organisation for their incompetence. Only proper regulations can improve software development. Alphabyte3: |

MindHacker9009:You and your useless takes. With this logic we wouldn't have the Bill gates, Elon musk and Mark Zuckerberg of today Yes, they were all dropouts when the built their billion dollar companies. You with your degrees and certificates what exactly have you built? |
| Re: Is Software In Danger Of Regulation? - Uncle Bob by MindHacker9009(op): 9:52pm On Feb 16, 2025 |
Your useless takes will not allow you to know that Bill Gates got windows technology from Xerox, which was developed by computer scientists. Mark Zuckerberg's dad hired a computer lecturer to tech him programming when he was still in school so he already had a solid programming foundation from a lecturer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQocN_c2uLI Revealpanda: |

MindHacker9009:Thank God men like you don't run the tech world. Competence defeats certificates and degrees anytime.... As long as you're competent you're good to go. After all before a hire and interview is carried out. So makes dad paid a computer scientist to teach his son Programming How's that different from learning programming from a computer scientist online yourself as long as you understand what's being taught. You should also stop confusing and lumping computer scientist and programmers in one basket |

Revealpanda:But you are thanking God that mafias are the ones running the tech world. Having a computer science teacher come and tech someone at home is even better than what they will learn in a lecture room. |

MindHacker9009:You mean immediately you graduate from a school with a cert, you loose the ability to become a tech mafia boss? 😒 |
| Re: Is Software In Danger Of Regulation? - Uncle Bob by MindHacker9009(op): 6:56pm On Feb 17, 2025 |
Revealpanda:If Medicine, Pharmacy, nursing, Architecture, Structural Engineering, have no barrier to entry like Software Engineering same way you'll have mafias with no certs in these fields controlling those sectors. Sure you'll be thanking God too if that those fields were controlled by mafias with not certs in those fields. |

MindHacker9009:Who told you programming have no barrier to entry? Why not take your grandmother who knows nothing about programming and make her send her CV to Google. |

Most tech jobs even at Google only want experience. And for those that do coding test, well passing a coding test most people can memorise is not barrier to entry. Google collaborates with university computer science departments worldwide through various research grants, funding programs and partnerships. These initiatives support academic research, PhD students and faculty members working on cutting-edge technology. So you need to know that Google does not joke when it come to their core technologies that's why they collaborate with computer science departments all around the world. Revealpanda: |

MindHacker9009:People can also memorize to pass an exam then get a cert so what's your point? 😒 Also passing an interview isn't where it ends After passing the interview you still need to build stuff.... If later they realize you don't know shyt as a self taught programmer or one from computer science background you'll still get fired either ways.... As long as you're competent and knowledgeable your stuff you'll be good. Go and watch 3 idiots my friend 😁 |
| Re: Is Software In Danger Of Regulation? - Uncle Bob by MindHacker9009(op): 10:52pm On Feb 17, 2025 |
That's the problem where the mafias that have taken over tech, they don't get fired. The organisation will rather protect them and let the project fail than to get the mafias fired. Also these mafias will also try to bad mouth the qualified competent developers in their team and tried to make themselves look they are the ones that know how to do the work, they do this by asking for pair programming with a qualified competent developer. Many viable projects are being scraped because the mafias without CS,SE or CE are the ones in charge of most tech teams. Even with CS,SE or CE degrees a developer would still have to develop themselves with complex personal project to be able to aply the knowledge to their organisations complex projects in order to make them successful. Three or four years in uni studying computer science (CS), software engineering (SE) or computer engineering (SE) can never be acquired elsewhere, plus self development during and after uni. With regulation there will also be CPD, Continuing Professional Development to make sure that developer keep their knowledge up to date. Revealpanda: |

Some great inventors of all time that contributed to computer development you are now calling them Mafia and they should lose their license or job . Software development won't have license to practice like medical doctor . Uncle Bob is afraid of the outstanding software developers globally. I love his works on clean architecture he should remove politics from coding don't kill innovation as far as it is beneficial to the society. |

Alphabyte3:Windows and Apple were technologies developed by Xerox computer scientists, electronics engineers and other engineers. But these guys that own Windows, Apple and others like them had the money to get a qualified team together to build stuff and now people feel they are the inventors. Take React and Json for example they were created by the two inventors who have a degree in an computer engineering field but React and Json are now maintained by FaceBook and Microsoft as they were able to get the inventors to come and work for them. Take Linux also: Linus Torvalds the creator attended the University of Helsinki from 1988 to 1996, graduating with a master's degree in computer science. The truth is that it is the mafias controlling the tech world are the ones creating all these noise that anyone can code there by helping other mafia to get tech roles they are not qualified for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQocN_c2uLI |

MindHacker9009:You don't need too much knowledge to be in tech just the money ,ideas and top talent at your disposal the sky is your limit. Look at blord tech and Blockchain entrepreneur he created Bill point. You don't need to know any programming languages to become a tech inventor . Look at Elon Musk revolutionized ideas to reality. Problems of Nigeria developers is that they code too much but forget to realize that money and other factors are needed to be successful note that failure is part of success. Talent in coding without money is useless. |

In 2022 I said something about text to game using AI in this forum I realized some months later it was built. I even specifically said sometime about text to 3d design. Corporations are looking for ideas to outsource . Funding is why many technology engineers is still struggling in Nigeria while US and China are pouring hundreds of billions of dollars in AI technology. |

I want Coding to be easier for a 9 years old by prompting without experience in coding anyone can write both advanced and simple tasks . My mission is already achieved building website, game and most apps are faster with these new tools like copilot, cursor or Gemini AI . New medicine and protein are develop life is much more easy. All these tools are created by the the people you called Mafias and other computer scientists. https://www.nairaland.com/7459985/openai-chatgpt-conversation-ai-shocked#118844525 |

Alphabyte3:Without money to start a tech firm and recruit the best talent or mafia connection to get a tech role anyone going to uni to study computer science, computer engineering or software engineering will struggle or may not to find work in programming when there are plenty of programming jobs because those with degrees in other fields or no degree at all are the ones getting most of the programming roles due to their mafias connections, because the mafias are the ones making all the noise that anyone can code and even though the projects they work on in commercial companies end up failing they even get promoted when those qualified in programming find it hard to get such roles. |

I saw a new headline about a Nigerian chemical engineer talking about using AI to Monitor ,track and control pipeline . He wants the oil industries in Nigeria to use AI . When I saw it I was astonished . Foreigner will want such ideas implementation. Now Nigerian government did nothing. |

MindHacker9009:It is not only connection to get a good job in Nigeria you need to read hard and apply at least 100 jobs yearly. Those people you called Mafias don't sleep at night but the day due to hectic delivery and deadlines. In Nvidia, Google, and Microsoft their research and development team work tirelessly at night to make these new tools . |

Alphabyte3:No one will take him seriously as he has not used AI to invent something new locally that can be used to light up Nigeria and Africa which is the greatest need of Nigeria and Africa now, developed countries are already doing what the guy is suggesting so they would rather let the developed countries who built the oil pipelines handle that for them. These are the kind of stuff Nigerian and African engineers should team up and create to solve the greatest problem Nigeria and Africa has, a self recharging energy for producing free or cheap electricity like this African guy has done. This will create a lot of new opportunities in cities, towns and villages. SAITH 'Free Energy' Device Invented By Maxwell Chikumbutso being Vetted by Thrive Team. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOMLjCZNf40 This is our own 100% local steel Iron smiting industry which our university professors ought to go and partner with them to research and improve on this knowledge that the Europeans copied from Africa to start their own industrial revolution that was used to come back and conquer and colonise Africa. Yet Nigeria has wasted billions of dollars on getting the developed countries to come and build Iron smiting industries for them which is not producing anything. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFsoXPRQnbg |

Alphabyte3:The problem is that those that brought education to Nigeria only did so to get cheap labour to help them manage their conquered colonies, but not how to use education for technological advancement of Nigeria and Africa. A part of NASA's shuttle re-entry technology was created by the University of Liverpool research team. Those tech companies you mentioned give research projects to universities in developed countries around the world. Many of the guys they are employing are through connections and are just using the research work from universities they have partnered with to solve these problems for them and the organisations you mentioned have the financial investors or big government contracts to commercialise these tools and claim them as their own. It's just so disappointing that in third world countries like Nigeria people are so naive as to not know how things operate in the developed countries due to lack of exposure. |

MindHacker9009:The reasons is that NITDA is behind and we don't have the finance backing because Nigeria reserve is less the $40 billion dollars. Nigeria has the locally made materials but how to refine them to finished product is a problem. Wealthy individuals ,Universities, corporations, research institutes and corporations can accelerated collaboration to improve funding . China was able to create it's own lithography machine from scratch when ASML stop supplying them . Now they are able for build 3nm chips and even GPU that surpass Nvidia blackwell architecture I don't know if the claims are true. They reverse engineered and tweaked the technology by adding more innovation and features. |
| Re: Is Software In Danger Of Regulation? - Uncle Bob by Alphabyte3: 5:19pm On Feb 19, 2025 |
Bank of industry Nigerian funding can't work for tech because the people working with them don't have the idea of a successful tech business roadmap. We are still in the 80s when it comes to innovation. |

Alphabyte3:Nigerians and Africans are making a big mistake about China and Japan. China has been developing from the same time as the Europeans have been and also China was the one that invented the Gunpowder which the Europeans copied from. The European's Iron industry was once like this our 100% local one too in the past but they took that knowledge to their colleges, polytechnics and universities to research and improve on it this was what they did with all the other traditional sectors which hold knowledge from the time of creation. But in Nigeria and African schools, colleges, polytechnics and universities they look down on these Traditional industries which are meant to be taught in schools and universities so that we can improve on them as the Europeans have done. Because we now see them as inferior to the products from the developed countries. Nigerians made copper, clothes and many more locally before Europeans came and if these were taught in our schools and universities they would have been improved by now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFsoXPRQnbg This was the first motor car the Europeans made and they continued to teach it in their schools and universities which have helped them to improve on it to what we have now and they have continued with these improvements.

MindHacker9009:Some Niger Delta youth with no educational background know how to crack crude oil in layman's term but don't want start a modular refinery instead they illegally refine it without license . If it is China they will provide the best refinery . I saw that China is the leading country producing oil rigs like 2 or 3 in a year with thousands of engineers. They use diamond for the mouth of pipe drilling. Nigeria has a long way to go in research and development . The rig has modern sensors to map the sea by detection of water or crude oils (black oil). Everything is digitalize. It is like controlling Xbox controller but any slightest mistake might cause an explosion |
