I was informed by a VFS staff here in Port Harcourt that they had a major server downtime in Lagos the entire past week but it has now been rectified. The downtime was the reason for the hold up. He asked me to expect updates from this week.

Yes, it was not valid for 12 months. But I renewed the medical aid with momentum and submitted a valid one during my second application. I applied in Lagos, through VFS.

I applied on 28th of November,my multiple entry visa was ready 3rd December,I got my passport from the courier just now,it only took 5 working days.

Mehn, It was really fast late last year, since January I haven’t even heard or seen people get their outcomes this fast.

Visiting for what exactly? Research, business, medical, touring ? They all have categories and you need to use docs applicable to your own situation

Has anyone received an update?

My contact says they are only treating applications for official trips for now since the server mishap. Port Harcourt has been receiving not more than two applications per day since last week. According to him, only one application came back yesterday and it was for an official application made two weeks back.

Exactly two months that I submitted my visa application at Lagos VFS. I received the below messages just now.

Your visa application reference number......has been received at the South Africa Visa Application Center in Lagos from the South Africa Consulate Lagos and is ready for collection.

Processed application ref no ZAF/.......has being dispatched via courier on 21/02/2025

We keep saying it here, if you apply at VFS Lagos, you must submit your passport with other documents.

I submitted my passport along with my application

It's not a must but it's an option. You can decide to submit it or not. They will even ask if you want to submit it or not.

Yes, it's a positive outcome. I got 3 years for my Postdoc

Good day everyone, I am sharing my experience in the event it proves helpful to others.

I am a Nigerian resident in the U.K. on a spouse visa. I am planning to visit South Africa in April. Since I require a visa, I had to apply. My timeline is as follows.

February 13th: Booked an appointment to submit my passport and documents at VFS Global, London. Appointment date scheduled for Feb 18th.

February 18th: Dropped off my passport and supporting documents at VFS. Appointment was for 9:00am. I got there at about 8:50 and I was done by 9:30am.

February 18th: Later in the day I received emails stating that my application had been received and forwarded to the South African embassy. I also got a confirmation email that the application was under process.

February 26th: I got emails informing me that the application has been processed, sent from the South African embassy to the application and had also been dispatched from VFS for delivery via courier.

February 27th: Passport delivered by courier at about 11am local time. Visa granted.

Congratulations

I submitted at VFS LAGOS January 16, 2025, I received email on 22nd of January that my application is under processing and till now no update from them.

Research

I arrived SA last week for my holiday, I used South African Airways, we took off at about 10:07PM and landed about 3:34AM. The immigration guys at night are very weird, they seem to beg Nigerians money, we should report to their immigration or boycut their airline.
Some Nigerians just wear gold and diamond and the immigration officer was saying his tired of stamping passport that his been here since morning and it’s 4AM that we should wait till 7AM when the next shift of immigration officers… I don’t know because they feel Nigerians have money or they saw some boys dressing like Lil Baby.
But except that experience it has been a beautiful week here in Johannesburg, excellent weather and great city, flying to Cape Town next before heading back to Lagos.
