I remember when news started spreading when Buhari was in power that fuel subsidy was to be removed, I kept on hoping they didn't because I could tell the effect was going to be devastating, already the economy was pinching. Fuel subsidy was the only thing every single Nigerian benefited directly from the government.

However the next administration came in and started with it and immediately fear gripped me.
Since then, it has been hell, especially for me, living from hand to mouth and it is deeply frustrating.
Salary is exhausted within two weeks so one has to borrow to complete the month, then when paid, settles the outstanding debts, then goes back to zero again, with the circle continuing. To worsen it, salary has not increased not even by a kobo since then. How does one survive this? To even make an unfortunate situation worse, to have other streams of income requires some level of capital as well.
The last time I gave myself a special treat must be aeons because i can't even remember when last I was at a restaurant or a bar.

Right now the month is still far off, salary is finished, tired for asking for help (and not getting but can't blame anyone), infact no one to ask from again. And then you are thinking of all of this, an incidence from nowhere creeps up within my residence involving the soak away pit requiring almost 40k between today and tomorrow. Not to forget rent which is due in less than two months. How long can one continue this way?

At the peak of all of these, one begins to ponder alternatives like death, crime etc that you never ever envisaged. It's not a matter of seeing a bleak future again, the future is here and it seems bleak as hope is almost faded away.
Honestly it is mentally exhausting. I am beginning to have anxiety issues and a rising BP.

Farmer and vulcanizers dont have salary yet are surviving because they have no salary structure to shackle them. They charge according to global rates and the input cost unlike salary earners.

Exactly. It's easier for artisans to just adjust their prices accordingly.
