@GlobeTrotter2. I'm really interested in migrating to Brazil but don't even know where to start.

Education is probably off the table cuz I'm 27, dropped out of Uni because of some sh*t. Went into some business with an uncle and now got savings of about 10m. Went into front end development last year and got a remote job that's paying a bit okay. So yeah, I'm financially stable. But due to some reasons I can't go into, I've got to migrate to a decent country.

What are my options? I've only seen people talking about education and giving birth as the only legal means.
Brazil has a digital nomad visa but it doesn’t lead to residency. You have to marry a Brazilian or have a child there once you get in if they will give it to you.

I wouldn't want you to rule out the study route. At 27, you aren't too old to study again. Luckily you have some amount of savings and also have a skilled role with steady income. N10m should be up to or almost 5000 pounds so if I were you, I'd try to save that in FX so you don't lose its value.

You can look into studies and also, I think they have a nomad visa which you should qualify for. As much as nothing is impossible, the present day reality is that leaving Nigeria is very difficult as of today. Same Brazil, my best friend applied to since October last year through the family reunion route (her elder brother is a Brazilian citizen and he handled everything from over there. She hasn't gotten her passport back and it's crickets from the embassy).

Another route is studying in the UK but every step is expensive and money inclined. They are only and seriously interested in your money. And finally, if you go the study route, better to have all of your tuition fee before leaving because surviving as a student is hard enough unless you're going with a partner and he/she can work full time.

Cheers.

Not feasible for him. Undergraduate studies in Brazil are in Portuguese and with undergraduate studies you have classes everyday with little time to work. You also need to write an entrance exam to be admitted to the university. It’s the same system here in chile. It’s why I tell people to finish their first degree no matter what. A pass degree or even a third class degree is better than no degree at all o.

Nice input and thanks for the clarification.

@BenNash, Same undergraduate study in the UK is extremely expensive as you will be needing to pay IHS fees for the entire duration of your studies (i.e. over 1300 pounds X3) and that is excluding initial deposit, flight ticket, accommodation and other miscellaneous costs. What of getting a job to fund the remaining years? - you will cry blood.

Note: this is not to scare you but only get you prepared mentally and financially. If you have the means, by all means carry on please.

Otherwise, as OP as said, finishing a degree here won't be bad. You'll be playing the long game - there's the open University and/or other part time classes to engage in. Also keep getting your money as Nigeria will most definitely have deteriorated much further by the time you're done.

And finally, congratulations Tensa and may the earth continue to favor you. You are a big inspiration and I always look forward to your wins. Special shout out to qtguru also - I can't wait for him to be all he can be and strive in his full glory.

And lest I forget, e sure me die sey the w.erey Hungarian and OS politician are weeping bitterly as their life don finally spoil Las Las. My the Lord continue to give you the might and will to keep germinating this violence on a steady and by all means continue to press their necks, so they can quickly ha.ng themselves if they're so bitter about their lives.

UK education is something I've never considered. I went through a really rough time from 2019 till 2023. Don't want to experience such again. The feeling of living on a crazy deadline every single time. All my friends in the UK are always looking for a crazy amount of money with an urgent deadline every single time we talk.

As for the Open university, how recognized is their degree? Can I use it to process a masters admission in US/Brazil/Chile for example without any problems? I fear it's one of those degrees you'll have limited pool of countries/universities you can apply to for masters.

Yeah, I'm ready to learn a new language.

Do you have any info about any of the East Asian countries? Everything I see about immigration to that zone is education related. Same as the Nordic countries.

Lol, the first bolded is very true and that is why I advise you have all or almost all of your tuition amount before leaving. My sister suffered the same experience and I had to sell my vehicle as at that time to help raise money to meet her deadline. But in sincerity, in a lot and most cases I've seen, it always end in praise eventually. Same sis made purchases of almost a thousand pounds in prep for her graduation ceremony a few days ago.

A huge advantage of the UK is that if you're intentional and have the money, you will leave Nigeria in 4 - 6 months as long as you meet the entry and financial requirements. The UK is standing on business and their study route presently, is one of the fastest way out of this shit hole BUT VERY EXPENSIVE.

Cons:
1. As with almost every change, the begining is rarely ever smooth.
2. If you do not have a partner with you that will work his/butt off while you work part time, YOU WILL SUFFER EVERY HARDSHIP IMAGINABLE because as a full time student, it is almost impossible to raise the remainder of your tuition fees as you're only limited to work for 20hrs weekly.

I have to agree with your stand on the open University dilemma, I think I ve come across a school or two that do not accept it so it might be wise to engage one of the traditional schools just to be on the safe side.

Playing the long game will be your best bet. On a side note, let's assume you get lucky and find yourself dating an already admitted student into a an MRes/MPhil/PhD program in the UK, just be her dependant. Con side of this, is in case you both fight and she gets you off her visa, you have 60days to get a new sponsorship. I'll assume you're smart and can find your way around this if so be the case. ✌️

I stand corrected but chances of you getting into a Nordic country is extremely low. Nor be by YouTube content creators o lol.

All thanks to your leaders.

Adding air pressure to the tires of my chat gpt generated car. It’s auto service available at every station. You just need to connect your hose to the tire till it gets to 35 and you remove it. Once it reaches 35, it starts to beep.

Probably a late advice but don't go anywhere YET, I know it feels like everyone is moving so you seem stupid not to move, but that would be a "financial mistake" to move at this time. You are working remotely, therefore it means you can save some funds for a while. Move your funds to dollars and purchase some ETF Stocks with it like S&P 500 on Apps like Bamboo, Cowrywise or Piggyvest, it will most likely earn some value in years while you plan yourself very well.

Keep working & saving your funds, get more experience up until senior level before you choose to leave Nigeria. Tech is brutal outside Nigeria, you are competing globally with Chinese, Indians etc. A lot of companies do not even hire juniors outside Nigeria at all, In fact most people who claim to be juniors are intermediary level already. Those guys from Indians and Chinese are not playing around at all. Interviews are so hard too.

- If you can try and get an Undergraduate degree first before leaving Nigeria & ensure 4 years in school, It will favour you more than applying for such in Brazil.

- Research on Germany Opportunity Card, you will need around 24,000 Euros to apply. It allows individuals to come to Germany without a job offer and stay for up to one year to search for employment and enables part-time work (up to 20 hours/week) while job hunting.

Whatever you do, do not make the mistake of moving to countries with Digital Nomad Visas BUT do not have actual prospects of Tech jobs. There are 5 major countries in Europe for tech jobs, (UK, Germany, Netherlands, France & Finland). If you move to any other country in Europe, you have yourself to blame. Portugal looks nice on the Eye, but there are no jobs.

You must be one of the luckiest immigrant in Chile to accomplish all these within 2 years in a country where the minimum wage is less than $600 per month. I think you have a job that really pays well.

Even in the so-called A-list countries like the USA, Canada, the UK, Germany, and some of the European countries, it's almost impossible to achieve this in just 2 years.

Go Chile
Your ignorance is deep. You think it is harder to buy a US designed car in the US than in Chile?

Based on the average income and available credit, the chances are higher in the countries you mentioned except europeans do not have a fancy for large US cars

If I have the opportunity to enter the USA with a visa that gives me full rights to work, if I am not a dollar dominated millionaire in 3 to 5 years, I am a bastard. Chile isn’t even a first world country and life is so easy here then imagine a true first world country.
