Nigerian actress, filmmaker, and producer Funke Akindele has openly expressed her support for feminism. However, she clarified that this does not mean she supports women being disrespectful to their husbands in the name of feminism. In a video addressing skit maker Kamo State and his wife, Akindele rejected the idea that women are the “weaker sex,” emphasizing instead that they are “strong and bold.” She encouraged men to treat women with special regard and not confine them to traditional roles, such as those limited to the kitchen. She also stressed the importance of women’s financial empowerment, urging them to achieve economic independence to better support their husbands. She said: "I’m a feminist but I do not support a woman disrespecting her husband. Do what is right. "I believe that we are not the weaker sex or vessel. Men are supposed to treat us specially and respect us. Men should not also feel that a woman belongs in the kitchen and can be talked to anyhow. "We women are strong and bold. Feminism is a JOKE! A SICK joke! The fact that she had to CLARIFY that she supports feminism but DOESN'T support women being DISRESPECTFUL shows that the whole thing is MADNESS. If you express your independence by being RUDE to people who can SNAP you in two like a pencil, then you are STUPID. Feminism has done MORE harm to women than ANY other thing in history including Patriarchy. In the past, nasty people had to traffic women for prostitution and pornography. Today, thanks to feminism, a 19-year old University girl will fuccck her entire faculty including the lecturers to show how independent she is. And women willingly SHOOT porn to launch their careers as "influencers". In fact, every woman wants to be a PORRRRNSTAR now. Walking NAKED is now a sign of "empowerment".
