What Amount Would You Consider A Good Salary? by IyaTola(op): 11:05am On Feb 24, 2025
So given the economic situation in the country, what amount would you consider to be a good salary?
Re: What Amount Would You Consider A Good Salary? by brain54(m): 11:09am On Feb 24, 2025
The crazy thing is that no amount is ever enough...

As salary increases so does wants and spending.

Then you find yourself struggling again.

Fu'kn rat race!

Re: What Amount Would You Consider A Good Salary? by EmperorCaesar(m): 11:12am On Feb 24, 2025
sad
I will be very realistic with this. Not in comparison with any European country and some Phantom minimum wage equivalent
Anyone who disagrees with me isnt only unrealistic, but daft and lacks good judgement on critical matters matters

OP, depending on the level, For an Entry level staff, i feel 350k-450k is fair(Most banks pay within this range),

Those in Tech should earn around 500k-700k as Entry level staffs

Higher levels should depend on acquired skillset and years of expertise

If you disagree with this, create your company make you pay your corpers and interns 1m every month. Nonsense

Wise men don't talk salary. Talk business and profit margins.

How much do you think you can pay Dangote, Davido, Don J and their likes if you could employ them?

Eye go turn you!

I guess you are in their class, congrats. How many percentage of the world population had/will ever have a head start like theirs?

Realistically speaking, how many graduates from Nigerian Federal Uni would start up a business right after NYSC? Wont they have to start somewhere first? Or do they dash out capital to people where you come from?

As for the bolded, There's no correlation between being Wise and what you wrote, maybe smart. Wealthy people do not neccessarily have higher IQ than those below them.

Depend on your definition of wise. What you call smart I call wise maybe.
It's ok, do your thing.

Be safe!

The problem is not the salary but the economy and strength of the naira to dollar, if one dollar was 30 naira, a salary of 70k will serve you for 2 months comfortably

I remember when motorcycles bike were sold for 100k , we enter bike for 30 naira , 50 naira for very far distance

With 500k you can get a good car

Thats why i "commoditized" my figure. If i was a rice farmer and I produced/sold 72-120 bags(50kg) of rice per annum, will that be a fair output if there was no money system and we all traded by barter?
Many people are focused on numbers and not what they give back to support the number system called money. Thats why money is always losing value.

Given Nigeria’s 24.28% inflation, a minimum wage of ₦45,000–₦60,000/month is a reasonable starting point. However, structural reforms (e.g., stabilizing the naira, boosting productivity) are critical for long-term solutions.

Nigerians should be earning a living wage of N200,000 not minimum wage to reflect economic realities.

How about a senior officer in federal agency earning 189,000. Is that fair?

To be honest, no salary can ever be enough, human wants are unsatisfiable. I remember in 2015. The most important thing is to try never to live above your means or give others the impression that you are living large.

You are getting everything all wrong, not everybody wants to start a business, not everybody can run a business, and not everybody will start a business.
Even businesses needs employees to run, it's just the basic truth.
