Give your reasons.

Unlike the other guy, I have all the time in the world to respond to comments.

No. Too much hate and moderator corruption. If one bans you for life, the others refuse to hear you out. You’ll need to create another account and start over. The constant tribalism is nonsensical. I’m beginning to feel users get paid to kickstart tribal wars. Some moderators use alternate accounts to engage in it. It is their form of “engagement.”

Foolish tribalism will be the end of this site and Nigeria in general
Re: Is Nairaland A Good Forum? by Sapeleboy911(m): 11:14pm On Feb 24, 2025
Although the user interface is nice and light, you can still use a Nokia 3310 to access Nairaland without any defacing on the front page. But nairaland remains a very toxic, religious, and tribal wars infested forums. The owner himself is a bigot, and so are his moderators. Nairaland is a clear description of what the Nigerian populace is.

In my early days, I was somehow able to disregard tribalism. Now, not so much. The most innocuous of topics somehow take a turn into tribal bashing. I blame boredom from unemployment. I’ve noticed that when trolls here finally get employed, they disappear until when sacked or laid off. The same with high school graduates who vacate the forum once they get admission into university.

Well, you can decide to just use it as an avenue to access the news. The tribalism, propaganda,
immaturity and pettiness that are rampant here are on a different level though!

It is a very good forum, if you are on nairaland, I mean a die hard fan, there will be nothing you will miss on naija news. Just ignore the bad aspect and face good aspects.

Nairaland has zero AI implementation apart from idiot bots created to rile up users for “engagement.” Is that a forum feature in 2025? ROFLMAO. What a joke.

The level of intelligent discourse that goes on here leaves much to be desired, I must say.

Kobojunkie, which of these benefits do you enjoy?

Nairaland is a popular Nigerian online forum where users can discuss various topics, share ideas, and connect with others. Here are some benefits of using Nairaland:

Community Building

2. *Sense of belonging*: Users can feel a sense of belonging to a community that shares their values, interests, or cultural background.

Information Sharing
1. *Access to information*: Nairaland offers a wealth of information on various topics, including news, education, health, and entertainment.
2. *Knowledge sharing*: Users can share their knowledge, expertise, and experiences with others, promoting a culture of learning and collaboration.

Entertainment and Relaxation

2. *Stress relief*: Users can find relief from stress and anxiety by engaging with others, sharing their experiences, and laughing with the community.

Business and Career Opportunities

Overall, Nairaland provides a unique platform for users to connect, share information, and learn from each other.
I doubt these benefits lasted more than three years. I joined the forum in 2011 and it was no different then from today. There was a time post 2013 when celebrity news got heavily promoted. I enjoyed those few years. I guess politics requires no serious thought or action to populate the front page. The topics receive heavy patronage from trolls fighting each other.
Re: Is Nairaland A Good Forum? by eepeepook(op): 9:20am On Mar 14, 2025
Fear, hate and rage.

Those are the three pillars of the media these days. It works here because idiot youths have made themselves unpaid candidates for either APC or PDP, as such fighting their assigned party's political enemies or fellow trolls. The activity will keep this place going for at least two years until majority grow sense and leave. Another form of hate and rage bait is ethnic bashing. Efforts were made to control it until discovered that it was the lifeblood of this forum. Anyone who wants 'engagement' in their topic picks an ethnic group and types insults or stereotypes. The pages fill quick with rage bots. Fear is easy. Post any bad news from any region of the country. Fear is a basic instinct which keeps humans in line. It also is amazing for advertising. Ever since I stopped watching international news or consciously clicking bad news, I got a lot better emotionally.

Nairaland is the perfect exhibit for the absolute intellectual poverty of Nigerians as a collective.

It's almost depressing to see. Almost everyone here is so vain, vacuous, pretentious, painfully uninformed on basic facts, wilfully ignorant, dishonest, deceitful, needlessly superstitious, needlessly obsessed with irrelevant topics, pocketwatching, ridiculously tribalistic, and even outrightly allergic to logic. Mind you, these bunch of people are supposed to be "educated". But then again, we already know how drastically impotent the Nigerian education system is.

Other forums like reddit and 4chan have their moments of degeneracy but it honestly doesn't match what I read here regularly. On average redditors and 4chan users still exhibit rare moments of intellectual honesty.
