Nigerians matter is complicated, greed has eaten deep into the fabric of an average Nigerian. Food Prices are high, farmers smile, consumers groan. Food Prices comes down, consumers smile, farmers groan. So, all these while, farmers dey happy while people dey attack Government. But come to think of it, since Buhari closed the borders to help local farmers, it has gone from bad to worse. A lot of price manipulations have been going on, while they smile to the bank.
Tinubu will bring it down and any farmer or trader that wants to lament will lament tire.

This is the consequence of an unstable economy. The farmers invested in the farming and expect to make returns on their crops. You can’t expect them to be happy when they buy seed at high prices and prices crash before they harvest. They won’t smile. Let them complain in peace.
Unfortunately your leaders don’t care

why are they lamenting are they dropping it to their own detriment? Then who forced them? while Fg is busy increasing their own charges and taxes.

Well, considering famers have to make a living, and considering that importation drains forex....

Anyway, you APC guys have no answer to our food issue. Like y'know...improving mechanized farming.

Better send T-pain on a working holiday to Brazil. They seem to know what they are doing...

Farmers na also human beings, they also deserve a better life.

If you know the amount of work they have to go through to grow their crops you would know that food is cheap, very cheap in Nigeria even with the inflation.

Many people will rather be in the city and beg than work in the farms, those that farm should be allowed to earn a decent living.

I don't know why Tinubu refused to reopen the borders, that move has proved counterproductive, so why not reverse it
He has not open it , see the people that are lamenting. They were the ones that pressured Buhari to close it and grant them funds through Anchor borrowers program. Even though, he has open it partially, other items can come in but not food.

If I'm in position to control importation of goods and services, if an imported product from far away countries become cheaper than local products, there will be no need to protect such local industries. I will completely open the borders for the benefit of the general masses.

Why the border is still totally or partially closed on certain commodities such as grains is puzzling because it makes no sense at all.

Who says I don't have a field I cultivated? The general good is far more preferable than individual good and knowing how greedy the average Nigerian is I guess the farmers would prefer their goods to be perpetually high.
Re: Farmers Lament Drop In Food Prices Amid FG’s Moves To Reduce Inflation by hotseat: 6:52pm On Feb 24, 2025
Apart from farmers, almost ALL Nigerians are die-hard Shylocks who would want to take advantage of any unfortunate situation to inflict more pains and hardship on fellow Nigerians.

Hitherto, the farmers have been smiling to the bank at the expense of the generality of Nigerians!

The expected/unexpected slight drop in the prices of foodstuffs could, at worst, only reduce their profit margin and here they are already singing from the book of lamentation!

Having said that, there's the need to making agriculture attractive by reducing the cost of farming enablers like fertilizers, quality seeds and seedlings, etc.

Governments at all levels need to expedite action to crash prices of foodstuffs.

Ebi pawa no be our heritage!

If you're a farmer, you'll understand that the farmers themselves are not the problem of high cost but the middle men.

And besides, faing as a hobby is quite different from farming for a living. Like right now, the cost of labour, farmland has escalated. Except for mechanized farming, the farmers will be dissuaded if not for his survival.

Almunjid:
The day members of the Association of Phone Charging Businesses stormed NEPA's office to protest against the improved power supply in my town, claiming it was harming their businesses, was the day I became truly disillusioned with Nigeria's issues. We Nigerians often create our own problems and tend to exploit each other, yet we consistently shift the blame onto our leaders. This incident showcased how we sometimes choose to prioritize short-term personal gains over long-term national progress.

Peace!
