I hate hoarding in all forms for profits I read of a farmer who bought 1000 bags of corn at N75k each for hoarding purposes. He was hoping it would go higher so he can make a killing. Guess what? A bag of corn is now selling for N50k so he has lost N25k per bag already. Same thing with fx speculators. Palm Oil speculators too. Same kind of evil behaviour. |

Paramount01:The situation is quite difficult to comprehend, but it is the reality. The very individuals who rely on generators to offer phone charging services and those who profit from selling these generators often actively resist improvements in our power supply. Similarly, farmers, who continue to benefit from relatively moderate production costs, still prefer to maintain high food prices to safeguard their own financial interests. Surprisingly, both groups frequently blame the government for the high cost of essential services and goods, effectively deflecting responsibility for a situation they have helped perpetuate. These behaviors highlight the complex, interwoven challenges we face in our pursuit of progress and the importance of addressing individual 'attitudes and mindsets' as we work to create a more equitable society. Peace! |

Demand has overtaken supply. They need to increase production to maximize profit. By what percentage was the price reduction that warrants this outcry? A mudu of yellow garri used to be 1200-1300 is now 1500 Naira. Government should import and subsidize farm inputs, machineries and fertilizers. So that the so called farmers will quit whining about incurring loss. |

The root cause of all these is the reckless statement pronounced by Tinubu at inauguration. Useless president |

“This decline in the prices, as I understand, may not be unconnected to the fact that some farmers are gradually returning to their farms in places like Zamfara and Sokoto, where farmlands were inaccessible due to insurgency.”Kudos to the FG and security forces on this Amalekki:Kai! Namaster:You can't blame these farmers. The blame still goes to the governments. These farmers do not have any support from the governments. In developed countries, the governments subsidize farming implements. The governments of developed countries also buy these farm products from farmers at exorbitant prices and sell to the public at subsidize prices thereby bringing enough money to farmers. In this Nigeria, no support from the governments. Farmers pay for these implements. They hire land for cultivation. They pay bandits before planting season. Bandits are also being paid before harvest. Why would they not complain? Do you know how much waiters govt gives to Dangote when his importing in name of concession? Dangote can't be where he is now without support from the government. |

Whatever can be done to bring down these hyperinflated food prices, which have been to the detriment of the masses, should be done. May prices come down. |

Love800:I'm trying to say there is no need protecting local industries if the prices of imported products of equivalent quality are cheaper. |
| Re: Farmers Lament Drop In Food Prices Amid FG’s Moves To Reduce Inflation by Love800(m): 3:27pm On Feb 25, 2025 |
Okay. If important goods are cheaper than our own locally produced goods, no need for government to help nigeria farmers to stabilize or giving them incentives. Am i right? Angrymode: |

Namaster:What are you saying? In today's Nigeria, every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to do tech because they hear that there's money in it. Why is it that a quarter of those people are not looking towards farming since you all think farmers are making huge money from it? The Alhasan guy you quoted said government should subsidize the cost of farm inputs like fertilisers and chemical so that more production can happen. How can somebody spend hundreds of thousands on fertiliser, chemical, fuel, labour, transportation and logistics and then government will just drop a policy that makes such person sale at a lost? Why not initiate that policy at the start of each farming season? Nigerians hate it whenever government says they should consider farming. Instead, they go online to wail about rising cost of food in the country. Instead of the government to sit with the farmers to come up with a better policy, next thing is to open border for importation, forgetting that some of those countries they are importing from are into mechanized farming, whereas our farmers are into manual labour due to lack of government funding. Indeed, the problem of Nigeria is Nigerians |

ThierryJay:Yet, millions of Nigerians don't want to make such superficial profits by not considering farming as a career. Same people that will want a recruiter to pay them N500k for knowing how to display "hello world" on the browser in the name of tech bro. Take up this challenge; cultivate 1 hectare of land and plant maize. God help you Fulani did not temper with it and you are able to harvest it. Sell it at the price you think is fair, let's see if you will want to go back again next farming season. Make sure you write down every thing you spent on a book. Social media has given everyone a platform to say things he or she doesn't have a single knowledge of |
